My stepfather was a World War II veteran and when I was age 10, he gave me a big stack of books about the rise of Hitler, including, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer.

Oh, I didn’t mean to say that the Irish contributed nothing to world culture, it’s just that on St. Patrick’s Day, everybody seems to forget all that and think being “Irish” means being a gross drunkard who talks like a leprechaun
