Because capitalists hired smarter lawyers, who wrote and passed laws the enshrined individual profit and outlawed societal profit. They have been no-holds-barred "waging war" for decades, while the left allowed their leadership to be co-opted by corporate money and continued "playing by the rules."

Yes. It is one of the great invisible tragedies of the 21st century. And the reason is 100% the corruption of the Dem leadership. Nothing has yet made a dent in that. Until that’s fixed, there’s little hope for the US.

I sympathize with the instinct in many of these comments about fair use of resources, the logic and beauty of stewardship of Earth, but not going to Mars doesn't solve those problems here on Earth. Colonizing Mars isn't a solution, either. It's just a primal instinct. And possibly, Life expanding.

Life-long environmentalist, grassroots activist. But also love exploration, pushing frontiers, path-finding. If you take a very hard look at the first colonists to N. A. about half died early from starvation etc. They left comfort and safety for the unknown, pain, death. It's a core need to explore.

Ok. Spill. What happened. I missed it, but now, with all these comments, I need to know what I missed.

Same here. My first prompt was super simple and the result was utterly stupid.

Yeah. It’s the reason Substack works so well. People are just used to long form = email.

This is from Jan. Why no forward progress since then. Very frustrating!

Can’t wait for a full featured long form app. WW was an interesting proof of concept but was largely not useful. Needs the email list feature, and post pics showing in BS.

I’m eagerly awaiting a full featured long blog @proto app. If forking WW, make sure to fix the issue with how it passes images to Bluesky. Currently, all WW posts look the same with the WW logo, needs the post image.

I had no idea you did this podcast. As a long time VM fan, and a long time fan of The Allusionist, this just made my day.

As a retired journalist, I must say, Jay is the dream interview subject. Highly aware of the intent behind a particular question, she's like a heat seeking missile, lazering right in on that target without needing further prompting. She is so good at communicating techy stuff to normies.

It's a new prototype and was shown at an airshow in 2024 though was far less impressive than what is depicted in this CGI video. The reality is intriguing, still, if a bit smaller in scale.

She must be ahead of her time! (Or perhaps you meant 2025?)

Oh, I found it in the @proto feed

It's just weird that they're advertising in this forum if it's not @proto based.

So in what way is Hardcover an @proto app? it looks like it doesn't even use the @proto user ID for signing up.

🧵 Now, I have hope, because I believe in the truth of what the great American writer James Baldwin said. He said, “In this world, there isn’t as much humanity as one would like, but there’s enough.” Let’s pray.

🧵 and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American. The America l’ve sung to you about for 50 years is real and regardless of its faults is a great country with a great people. So we’ll survive this moment.

🧵 They are removing residents off American streets and, without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons. This is all happening now. A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president

🧵They’re rolling back historic civil rights legislation that has led to a more just and plural society. They are abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom. They are defunding American universities that won’t bow down to their ideological demands

🧵 In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death. This is happening now. In my country, they’re taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers.

🧵 At the end of the day, all we’ve got is each other. My City of Ruins There’s some very weird, strange and dangerous shit going on out there right now. In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now.

🧵 House of a Thousand Guitars The last check, the last check on power after the checks and balances of government have failed are the people, you and me. It’s in the union of people around a common set of values now that’s all that stands between a democracy and authoritarianism.

🧵 is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration. Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!

🧵 Welcome to the Land of Hope & Dreams Tour! The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock ‘n’ roll in dangerous times. In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years,

For a "no code" solution, no fees, no limits on the number of feeds, max flexibility on the complexity of filters you can build into your feed, I recommend Graze.social. I've used other feed creator sites & this one is superior by far. Also to discuss feed creation issues: bsky.app/profile/fran...

Why in the world would this idea be controversial? It sounds very empowering, and low overhead.

that was what made it so compelling. both were suffering the same — strings of unforced errors, double faults, low first serve percentages — but both refused to give up on themselves. They kept rallying, fighting back, kept the belief. There was just no quit, right to the last tie break point.
