I love Sophie Stone as the slightly sarcastic Ashley.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11627064... This is the version of Go for Broke I had in the 70s.

I don't give the M5 much chance against the panzerchreck team. The terrain and figures look superb.

EFE don't have the depth of support for Carapaz imo, but the rate the other EFE riders fell away today was frightening.

del Toro is going to be great but today showed a lack of tactical nous - letting Yates go and concentrating on Carapaz was a bad mistake. Did UAE forget that Yates had van Aert up the road?

a pity Birmingham Live can't decide if he's a barrister or a solicitor. And as for the header photo! I have no words, a shame that Inappropriate Gavels isn't on BS.

the only downside is the nearby fog signal.

"never even heard of Staffordshire" - that's appalling. I've had the same after visiting my parents - my accent used to go very Stoke.

Like Prince George, did he take acting lessons about the importance of stance from Messrs Keanrick and Mossop?

Point taken. I wonder how things would look if the 1880s proposal to make the Potteries a separate county had gone ahead.

Oh please no. I spent my Stokie childhood explaining that i was neither a Brummie or a Manc.

Watching the Sunday league on BBC2 was my introduction to l/o cricket, where a run rate over 4.00 was seen as exceptional. I wish I could find the theme music somewhere - it wasn't Soul Limbo.

If Huddersfield were a Championship or L1 side, they'd now be being described as plucky.

some justification then, still not excusable though. The wheels on the bus is never excusable.

do they have the excuse of a small person, or is it just weirdness?

Throw in another one - player welfare. Due to the fixture congestion, there were clubs playing several games in short order. Bradford N for example played 3 in 4 days the week before the Championship final 1st leg. Sat, Mon & Tues with the final the following Sat.

I guess there were large communal shelters in the vicinity. The 39-40 series had all sorts of incidents; a threatened player's strike early on due to payments being reduced. A winter wipe out that saw no games played in Yorkshire between 26 Dec and 24 Feb, and none in Lancs mid-Jan to end of Feb.

some games were interuppted by air raids and at least one in the 39-40 series was abandoned due to an air raid - Hull v Batley on 21 Oct - but the result stood as 65 min had been played. Also attendances were limted to 8,000 or 15,000 if the ground capacity was >60,000

It feels like a whole new generation of setters at the Graun. Either I'm getting better or they aren't as hard as the likes of Araucaria or Bunthorne (don't think I ever finished one of his) but I'm enjoying the G's crosswords.

I'm waiting for the White House to state that it's because the arrestor cables weren't made in the US.
