It was another busy week last week - here’s what I’ve been up to

I’ve written a further FOUR letters to government ministers calling for them to act to repair/replace Marsh Lock bridge. Government really needs to get a grip of this. www.henleystandard.co.uk/news/home/19...

I was honoured to open the playground in Stadhampton yesterday - there’s such a great community spirit and well done to the Parish Council for raising the funds for it 👏 I was joined by Georgina Heritage (District Councillor ) and Judith Edwards (Standing for election for the County Council in May)

Wishing all those observing this holy month a healthy and blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak!

Happy St David’s Day to everyone celebrating today 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Today is Rare Disease Day! Rare diseases are individually rare but collectively common, affecting 3.5 million people in the U.K. This Rare Disease Day I am taking part in the #ShowYourStripes campaign to raise awareness of this really important issue.

I raised concerns this week in Parliament about the negative impact Brexit is having on businesses in the Thames Valley. At a recent meeting with business leaders, the overwhelming message was that Brexit has had a detrimental impact on local businesses!

I joined Social Care Providers outside Parliament yesterday to call on the Government to fix the Social Care crisis and exempt care providers from the National Insurance hike. I’m also urging them to complete their social care review within a year, not the three years they have planned!

Great to meet with Lib Dem volunteers in Sonning Common today. And a fantastic response on the doorstep 🔶

The Government must now go further and faster on defence spending so we can stand up for #Ukraine and ensure our security against an emboldened Vladimir Putin. 🇬🇧🇺🇦 The @libdems.org.uk have a clear plan. 🔶👇

The last bank in Thame closed this week and I fully support the town’s need for a banking hub rather than an Automated Deposit Service!

I recently met with Chiltern Railways at Haddenham and Thame Parkway to discuss the ongoing issue of overcrowding on services and to request improvements to the station www.thamehub.co.uk/local-mp-urg...

Last week I spoke at a Westminster Hall debate about fuel poverty

Update: TW won case, but appeal granted!

Hats off to my brilliant Oxfordshire colleague Charlie Maynard for taking Thames Water to court to stop their disastrous bail out that would see more debt piled on and rate payers footing the bill. I was pleased to give my support to the case with a letter of support

Great to chat with the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce last week. The Tories trashed the economy. Labour have done little to support business so far and have ruled out closer trading ties with Europe Liberal Democrat’s are the only true friends of business in parliament.

Canvass teams are a-go! This time in the lovely Henley-on-Thames

Rishi Sunak has not voted in Parliament since November 2024. Are his constituents getting a good deal?

It has been another busy but productive week this week - this is what I’ve been up to! I hope you have a great weekend and a good half term if you’re off next week 😊😊

The Liberal Democrat led administration at Oxfordshire County Council has delivered a responsible budget that invests in roads and social care. Sadly the Tories tried to block it.

Good news for Thame: funding secured for next step in Thame-Haddenham Greenway. Congratulations to Cllr Kate Gregory for hard work in making this happen www.thamehub.co.uk/thame-to-had...

I’m pleased for the town of Watlington to have secured the funding necessary to finally deliver the much needed relief road. Only one final hurdle remains - the planning committee meeting in March. 🤞

Claudia is 100% right to be ‘quite annoyed’ at the closure of Marsh Lock Horsebridge. Her petition is adding weight to the campaign to reopen/repair the bridge. www.itv.com/watch/news/n...

Today I had a meeting with Chiltern Rail to discuss their plans for improved services between Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London.

Great to visit Shiplake college and field questions from A-level politics students!

Oxfordshire Lib Dems are not letting up in fighting for ADHD services to be restored in Oxfordshire. Below 👇 our letter to Wes Streeting @laylamoran.bsky.social @calummillerld.bsky.social Charlie Maynard @ollyglover.bsky.social

Brilliant to visit Thame Sharing Life Trust’s food bank today. Volunteers shared how delays to universal credit claims can create food emergencies for families. It’s great we have such a strong community to step in where government fails.

Local elections now in full swing! Great to join the team in Shiplake 🔶

I appeared on BBC Radio Oxford on Friday with Adam Ball to discuss a number of local issues - including potholes www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It’s been a busy week - here’s what I’ve been up to ! Have a great weekend 😊

I am proud to support #TimeToTalkDay – an important initiative focused on encouraging us to be more open about our mental health

Congratulations to the The King and Queen in Wheatley who have been awarded with the Bill Sustainability Champion Award 🏆 This award recognises those licensees who are taking sustainability in their business seriously, whilst supporting local communities, their teams and local supply chains!

I have asked the House of Commons to take action over the recent flooding across the UK and address the devastating impact on communities, businesses, and transport. www.thamehub.co.uk/mp-demands-a...

Yesterday in parliament during a statement about devolution, I asked the Secretary of State if strategic mayoral authorities would align with Integrated Care Boards to avoid issues with healthcare services!

I met with the First Steps Nutrition Trust today who want to see improvements to how baby/toddler food is regulated. Parents need to be given all the info on the foods being marketed for babies!

January has been another busy month in parliament and in the constituency. The post-Christmas cobwebs have been swept away and we’re back to working hard for local residents! Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected]

Trump is behaving like a neo-colonialist. His actions towards Gaza, Canada, Greenland and Panama belong in the 19th century. It is anti-American and we should call it out for what it is.

Last week I visited HR Wallingford. Their AI tool for identifying river pollution could be a gamechanger. So proud to have a Manchester Prize finalist in the constituency too!

Today is World Cancer Day and I asked a question to the Minister in Parliament about ensuring patients have good access to effective medicines that are yet to be approved by NICE

Donald Trump is acting like a playground bully and is trying to play our allies off against each other. We must stand together against his attempts to divide us.

This week is @‌Place2Be's #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek. It is vital that every child across the country can easily access the right support at the right time. But we know there is more to do until we get there. I am pleased to show my support for this campaign

Catch me on BBC Politics South this morning at 10am

Catch me today on BBC South with Peter Henley

Brilliant to be in Benson with our fantastic team, speaking to voters

Today is the first day of LGBT History Month LGBT+ people have always been part of our societies, but often their stories are hidden and go untold. This month is an opportunity to celebrate those stories and continue to campaign for progress.

With thanks to the Warneford Hospital for the informative tour of facilities and for talking me through their important work in mental health.
