/chatgpt prompt “generate a list of ten things a government employee might do that a self-important dullard would find convincing”

There’s no evidence that Dan Caine will not be an effective chairman of the joint chiefs relative to his peers, but it is certainly saying something to the services that we are replacing a highly qualified black man with a white man who literally lacks the command qualifications for the job.

BREAKING: Judge Nichols has rejected further relief for USAID workers and has dissolved his restraining order on the Trump administration's effort to dismantle the agency. ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show...

504 plans are how kids can carry EpiPens or make sure their classroom is peanut free. It’s how kids with diabetes can use insulin. It’s how kids with mobility issues can have more passing time or use an elevator. An attack on 504 is an attack on everyone. Listen to @lollardfish.bsky.social.

Every ten minutes here is like: - Trump doubles student debt - Musk now has keys to your house and is in your bathroom doing plumbing drugs - Three planes just crashed - Trump signs EO making women illegal - Face-melted Nazi from Indiana Jones now in charge of CIA - Meteor not arriving fast enough

This is just to say I have fired the bureaucrats throughout your government Even the ones that were probably keeping planes in the air Forgive me I am not very smart So efficiency Much savings

This is horrifying www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

I keep seeing DOGE’s actions called “auditing.” It’s not fucking audits. Audits are not performed by sailing into an organization you know nothing about, firing huge swathes of people, and THEN figuring out what they were doing

As a result, she said, just three full-time employees remain in both the Yellowstone and Bozeman ranger districts to manage 19 rental cabins, 60 bathrooms, 21 campgrounds and other infrastructure spread across 1 million acres. www.bozemandailychronicle.com/townnews/wor...

A good general epistemic rule of thumb: If you have spent a few hours or weeks studying an area large numbers of smart, educated people have worked in for decades, and you believe you have discoverer an earthshattering truth they all missed, your default should be to regard this as VERY unlikely.

This is a good time to remind everyone that this administration hasn't done anything for anyone. It has literally only taken away things we've already paid for and fired and sued people. Oh and the quid pro quo with Adams. That's the extent of what they have done. Kinda nuts.

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

Because killing USAID wasn't enough.

Obedience is good. We like to see obedience to court orders. I'm perfectly fine with the trumpitistas criticizing the orders, calling for them to be overturned on appeal, and even accusing the judges of political bias, so long as they also damn well obey them. www.theverge.com/news/610765/...

rip five eyes long live four eyes

I think it's bad that they're attempting to create what functionally amounts to a dual power structure of political commissars who have power over congressionally approved heads of federal agencies if I'm being for real with you guys.

Imagine being so bad at Sunday school that the pope yelled at you personally

nuking USAID and asking for CIA resignations is Cold War dream list stuff and there are basically two powers who would be rooting for it

Before I became a journalist, I was in the international development space. There is plenty to criticize about the way that foreign aid works. The loss of USAID is incalculable. USAID was a place for people who wanted to do some good in the world could go.
