Yet another ICE impersonator caught. How many are they not catching? As @MarshaBlackburn @SenJohnson & Sexton try to protect masked unidentified vigilantes with legislation— we should be banning this dangerous insanity instead.

Cooper said the protest was part of a “long history of unacceptable criminal damage committed by Palestine Action”. Prosecute criminal damage if you must, but what is unacceptable is: branding it terrorism www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Little Bredy, a village I know quite well (it hosts the Melplash Show) has been sold. The villagers are all being evicted from their homes by an unknown, wealthy landlord. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

#OTD 1858 Alice Lee b (d 5 Oct 1939) Showing “negative” studies can have major impact, her doctoral research demonstrated * no* correlation between skull volume & intelligence. As craniometry was used to “scientifically prove” both male genius & female inferiority, the fallout was massive. 1/4

Thank you so much, Helmer. It's a fantastic honour, and a welcome recognition of the value of our field and the Humanities. But of course this is also owing to the great colleagues and students with whom it has been my pleasure to collaborate. I could not have done it without them.

One of the things that shills for the "super-rich" are absolutely, professionally, incapable of addressing is that being "super-rich" makes you dangerously, unaccountably, powerful, and that is bad in itself and should be stopped.

The Latest British Social Attitudes survey from Sir John Curtice and colleagues finds that 63% of people asked say they would be likely to vote to rejoin the EU in a second referendum.

Worth a watch: Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.

That’s right. Cut this lying lunatic off! Every self-respecting news network should cut Trump off and fact-check him in real time. MSNBC did it right!

“No right is safe in the new legal regime the Court creates.” –Justice Sonia Sotomayor. One of the most chilling sentences I have ever read.

This is a subject I have been brooding about for some time. I am grateful to the Washington Monthly for posting this piece. washingtonmonthly.com/2025/06/27/i...

Happy to talk about CA's LGBTQ-inclusive History-Social Science Framework. Check out the One Institute's new collaborative K-12 lesson plans--now more than ever. (Wish the journalist had mentioned my new book: Contested Curriculum: LGBTQ History Goes to School, but glad the word's getting out!)

Just on a strategic level, it's difficult for me to understand why the conservative movement, which has a monopoly on judicial power for the foreseeable future, chose to relinquish that power in favor of unchecked presidential power. Even if we're not having elections anymore, Trump is mortal.

It's a mark of what's gone wrong with British politics that it's regarded as some kind of career-ending humiliation when a govt has to make concessions to Members of Parliament. We'd be much better governed if MPs found their backbones more often, & govts routinely had to respond to their concerns.

We have the greatest microwave ever. It has two different kinds of beeps, a volume setting and a NO BEEP setting and it is a life changer. It was recommended by the #actuallyAutistic community. It's a Breville 3 in 1 and I will never be the same. Huge quality of life improvement.
