LMAO -- Boebert confuses Oliver Stone and Roger Stone during a hearing about the JFK assassination where Oliver Stone is a witness

Ads!

Holy crap, #aintitcoolnews is still online. Last post was 4 days ago.

Gavin Newsom has the exact appearance and energy of the mayor in an 80s crime film who winds up at the end of the movie saying “Good detective work, Sergeant Bolan … too good” and then pulling a pistol. This is also who he actually is down to his bones.

Translation: Bezos paid Wilson & Broccoli a MASSIVE amount of money to exit the stage. And yet another beloved pop-culture franchise is likely going to be plundered and exploited to the Nth degree by people who place profit before fidelity. @thedigitalbits.bsky.social variety.com/2025/film/gl...

I don't think anyone is demanding that every person needs stacks of film, VHS, DVDs and Blurays but the fact is, owning physical media is the only way to guarantee access to what you wish to see in the future. We are seeing streaming getting yanked on a whim and it's only going to get worse.

Sometimes I'll just make thumbnail graphics for YouTube videos that don't exist.

RIP David Lynch. His version of Dune might be flawed, but it’s a visual triumph.

White of the Eye (1987) is an overlooked quasi-Giallo set in sun-drenched Arizona. It’s a slow burn that ramps up into a very suspenseful and unpredictable third act.

Unforgiven (1992) 😬

VHS print ads that go hard

Excalibur (1981) REALLY needs to be in 4K. @warnerbrothers.bsky.social @shoutstudios.bsky.social @criterion.bsky.social

It’s fascinating revisiting films from the 90s that you watched a lot back then. The cinematography looks way better and you recognize way more of the actors besides the main stars.

Guys, I need you to stop calling Hans Gruber and his men terrorists. They're absolutely not. The *only* terrorists in all five Die Hard movies are the villains in DIE HARD 2. All the others are just thieves.

It's interesting to see what happens when you stop using any app that you were using heavily for a while. The app, which is ostensibly just a tool, suddenly transforms into this desperate, whiny, needy, ugly little thing that will do literally anything to regain your attention. Grim.

I love that #silentrunning was titled 2002: The Second Odyssey in some countries

Yes, I’m religious. I believe in the Holy Trinity.

Just as George Lucas predicted…

Picked up this little book of writers’ writing rituals, & I think most of em are liars — “up at dawn, 6 hours at my desk, followed by calisthenics, liquor, & reading edifying works.” But David Lynch delivers the goods.

Repost with one of the greatest villains in cinema history:

I was listening to a podcast and this ad for Gladiator ll is just a lazy AI voice describing the film in monotone. Audio ads for movies have really went downhill. youtu.be/9za3DUxie3w?...

Is Bluesky a good place to share a photo of my promotional frisbee for the 1992 film the Crying Game?

Quote post with the first DVD you ever bought. I was gifted a DVD player and the first Kubrick box set for Christmas 1999, and shortly after that I went to Sam Goody in the mall and bought Highlander. First audio commentary I ever listened to.
