I get the engine argument because small games that rely on many preset components *or whatever (idk anything)* can feel similar, but needing new mechanics feels weird. Sometimes just creating a new story and environment, polishing what was already there is just what I want from a game.

I feel that in a way, with slay the spire as I climb ascensions or just beat the heart I feel as though I accomplished something; I leave feeling like it was a good use of my time. When I play balatro I never feel that? Sure it’s fun to play but afterwards I don’t feel like I accomplished anything.
