Dude's going to be actually terrified the first time he goes inside a bakery and sees all the loaves of bread lying there naked and unwrapped.

The most fascist elements of current US policy are the most popular elements of current US policy. Plan your travels accordingly.

Please watch and share. It can be easy to get a little lost in the details, but the ENTIRE THING they're doing is absolutely built on a foundation of lies and flagrantly illegal.

lol

They told me parenting would be hard. They didn’t say I’d be managing airborne transmission, collapsed institutions, and mass delusion before my morning coffee. A 🧵 for the last parents standing:

Hey Tom Homan, go fuck yourself. The country where I was born is a nation of authoritarian cowards. People like Homan seem to tremble in fear at the very idea of due process. It's pathetic, it's disgraceful, and history has already rendered its judgement on these small-minded bureaucratic thugs.

There are alarming signals that in some people long Covid cognitive difficulties not only don't improve - but are progressive "It doesn’t look in older adults that this is a reversible process" No paywall 🔗

LPC: *some junior rando* let's plant some buttons at a CPC event and see if they're silly enough to wear them CPC: *the literal party leader* let's override the Charter so we can fill up the prisons more Perspective, people

"Abolish ICE" was the correct take then and it's the correct take now.

Any Democratic politician who doesn't understand Nayib Bukele's grave offense against the sovereignty of the American people and constitutional order and say as much publicly should have no future in elected office. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/bukel...

colonialism isnt in the past. this is the state doing mass murder through policy, targeting Indigenous people, and killing so many women. this would be seen across Canada if Canada bothered to count this is systemic violence and the purpose of a system is what it does genocide

New: First Nations Health Authority reports that 427 First Nations people died from toxic drugs in 2024, 6.7x rate of non-FN BC residents. First Nations women died at 11.6x of non-FN BC residents, men at 5.2x. First Nations ppl make up 3.4% of population, make up 19% of toxic drug deaths in 2024.

I hope everyone remains safe and also that people know that a corporate spaceflight of only women astronauts for a company owned by a deeply destructive billionaire who is enabling fascism is just public relations for fascism and has absolutely nothing to do with feminism

In short, the more the public learns of Carney the more they seem to like him, while the more the public learns of Poilievre the less they do. Poilievre needs the debates, but he also has an uphill battle convincing the public that he's not the petulant right-winger he's been cosplaying for 2 years.

Canada is searching for a new Chief Public Health Officer. A month ago, an op-ed by a PR consultant ran in the Toronto Star. It's main thrust: "Hey isn't Bonnie Henry great?" See quoted skeet for an important perspective.

"The most problematic jurisdiction may be British Columbia. Its publicly disclosed data has been incomplete, inconsistent and on occasion, seemingly contradictory." -Mario Possamai, Senior Advisor SARS Commission, 'A Time of Fear,' Fall 2020 Possamai was talking about Henry. tinyurl.com/n8u4ktkv

Excellent op-ed on why Dr. Henry is not the right person for the next Chief Public Health Officer of Canada role 👏🏼 Cc. @mark-carney.bsky.social @chiefscican.bsky.social canadahealthwatch.ca/2025/04/13/w...

This is bleak, but if we’re prioritizing sharing of information and expertise, we do have an entire infrastructure for allowing people to present remotely that we used in the first few years of the ongoing pandemic. It’s something that US conferences should be doing for accessibility and inclusion

pretty undeniable how much AI + short form video are supercharging science misinformation www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYmR...

It's amazing how much 'first past the post' elections poison our political environment. Canada does, as Ryan says, have a multiparty parliamentary system. The problem is that because of FPTP, this multiparty system seems to function like a two-party system in practice. Not always, but usually.

Should Canadians trust his party with their votes? lolno

This got dark quickly 😂

The cuts "would kill the much-anticipated Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an observatory seen as on par with [Hubble & JWST] that is already fully assembled and on budget for a launch in two years." Would also apparently close NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Huge, HUGE loss for science.

As @gosiagasperophd.bsky.social has told us many times, while it’s easy to discount a few cases, a few cases is not the same as zero. Zero means there’s nothing to spread, while a few cases means there’s something to spread. And it quickly becomes a lot thanks to exponential growth.

The U.S. is a fascist state. It's not in the act of becoming a fascist state.
