The cuts "would kill the much-anticipated Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an observatory seen as on par with [Hubble & JWST] that is already fully assembled and on budget for a launch in two years." Would also apparently close NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Huge, HUGE loss for science.

2/3 cut in astrophysics
2/3 cut in heliophysics
50% cut in Earth science
30% cut in planetary science
This is just such an incredible self-own, what are we doing?

Enough internet for me today. My internal seethe-o-meter is reaching a critical levels.
i missed the "ROMAN" part of her name 🙄
I'm glad I got to see this telescope in person in her stripped-down naked glory back in December, but *ugh*.

It’s genuinely that simple. Literally everyone except the OMB is pissed af about this
I mean it’s all grim but that hit me square in the gut.
B. Defunding NASA means LESS money to SpaceX.
Also, Musk has already voiced his disapproval for this decision. Congress and the incoming admin will too
One assault on science after another. Malicious to the core.
Academic freedom ended through an anti-intellectual coup.
There's even a storage closet that once held the whole Hubble! /s
Everyone is. Congress, incoming admin, NASA themselves
The only people happy are the OMB and Russell Vought who made this happen (and not to “pump money to SpaceX”. Literally just to stop any gov spending on science, his fav hobby fsr)
This is Vought’s doing. It’s his MO
I don’t know about the author of the article but for me, I’m desperately praying that I don’t lose my livelihood and starve to death or lose access to my medication.
Not much of note there. Just a funny story
