there is really going to be no option but to prosecute these people the second they are out of power if we ever want a chance to fix this country

Garcia: Elon Musk, what are you afraid of? Don’t be afraid to come before our committee—that’s what I’d say to him. I’m not sure why he’s so scared of folks like myself, Jasmine Crockett, or Maxwell Frost.

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

I am trying to imagine the reaction of Joe Biden or Barack Obama had spoken to a Republican governor in this way at a public event. I just can’t. None of us can.

Trump and Trumpism summed up in a single statement.

If you de-zoot the toots here, he’s saying he spent $44b on twitter as part of his right wing political project—which is both obvious and something you can’t say in the newspaper.

Happy Valentine's Day, America.

Acosta is being forced out of CNN for this interview, because apparently pressing MAGA people to take a stance on horrible actions Trump has done is unacceptable to CNN.

CARTOON OF THE DAY

Yes!!! Say more of this!!! It’s the most astonishingly, openly corrupt administration in US history, literally from the first day, and it’ll only get worse. They aren’t even trying to hide it. It’s a degree of corruption that could destabilize the whole country, the whole world.

An incredible photo from Berlin this evening. An estimated 100,000 have been on the streets in the German capital today to protest against the Far Right and fascism in Europe. #Resist (📸 Ricarda Lang)

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

here's today's post: "what the fuck is this?" — the media fails its first test of Donny’s second presidency. thanks for reading, and please sign up for my daily newsletter to keep getting the good stuff —

Trump’s pardons include "violent offenders who went after the police on Jan. 6 with baseball bats, two-by-fours and bear spray”, precisely what loyal Trump propagandists Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters explicitly said shouldn’t happen. (🧵:)

It will never not be insane to me that a *GOP* president can happily *repeat* that he "likes" the world's worst, most totalitarian, most crazy & anti-American dictator, without any domestic political consequences for him from his own party, the opposition, or the media. Never.

So like, I don’t want to be dramatic, but…uhh….

Nineteen … and counting. That’s how many former Fox News hosts, commentators, on-air medical experts, producers, and staff are set to join President-elect Donald Trump’s second administration. Never before has one media outlet exported so many alumni to a president’s day-one cabinet and staff.

I, for one, am shocked that the focus for Republicans would be on making rich people even richer and hurting the already marginalized! How could anyone have predicted this??

Jack Smith’s report on the January 6 case is out now. 👉 www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Some of the responses we've seen to the CA fires illustrate the same basic political dynamic that helped Trump win last year. It's a given Republicans will crap on Dems when things go wrong. But it's also a given that the far left does it too, often in equally misleading ways.

“Historic Landslide and Mandate”

You cannot find common cause “on core issues like corruption” with supporters of Trump, who is far and away the most corrupt president in history and isn’t even pretending to divest from his business this time around. Come on.

The key takeaway is that the world’s richest man got what he wanted; stripped our cancer funding for kids, killed reforms to bring down drugs prices and caps on investment in China. Trump on the other hand demanded a debt ceiling raise and got nothing.

Could Donald Trump be a moderating influence on an Elon Musk presidency?

8 policies stripped from GOP bill after Trump, Musk rebellion *fix for stolen food stamp funds *PBM overhaul *RFK Stadium transfer *Congress pay COLA *Pediatric cancer research *Ban on junk fees *Criminalizing revenge porn *Restrictions on investment in China www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

“FACT CHECK: Yes, Trump Praised the Nazis in Charlottesville” Sorry, Elon Musk and Joe Rogan, but Trump absolutely did praise neo-Nazis, and it's not actually a 'hoax,’ writes @katz.theracket.news in this #mustread mythbuster for Zeteo.

The culture here makes it possible. After Jan 6th I privately confronted Mace for lying about my story bc she too was terrified in her office. I said as another assault survivor you know how harmful what you did is. Why? She said “whatever you know it’s a game, just points on the board” Uhh no???

The share of Republicans who say that they’re worse off financially than they were a year ago is already down 15-points since the election.

Sarah McBride could post a 24/7 stream of videos of all the random people calling for her death. Kamala Harris could have done it just with random people calling her the N word. Doesn’t work for Dems because the media treats random ppl on TikTok like Dem operatives in a way they don’t for Reps.

I'm sorry I'm just having trouble coming to terms with the fact that the CEO of this platform somehow managed *not* to be a billionaire techbro hellbent on shoving his head up the Republican Party's ass in an effort to curry political influence. Thank you @jay.bsky.team

Now is a good time to remind everyone that Matt Gaetz was the only 'no' vote in the entire Congress against legislation that targeted human trafficking

Just absorbing the fact that the first order of business in the new QAnon-inflected MAGA Republican era is to demand that Congress bury its report on sex trafficking and drug allegations against a Republican member of Congress who they're trying to promote to higher office.

So the GOP is just currently covering up potential sex crimes against children by one of their members and instead of releasing the report, they are trying to make that person the Attorney General of the United States? Do we have that right?

RFK announcement puts a fine point on something I've been trying to articulate and is a theme of the Trump years. It's something I've wrestled with and that a lot of Dem messaging has gotten wrong. Part of what Trump does is constantly divide the country along the lines of pro-system and anti-system

This X account has been given a grey checkmark, verifying it as an official government account. It also only accepts resumes be DM's, which are solely open to verified X users who pay Elon Musk. This level of corruption is staggering.

The party that is obsessed with child sex offenders, & is close to a cult that claims child sex offenders run the government, just nominated a guy once investigated for allegedly sex-trafficking a 17 year old girl to be in charge of the country’s legal system. Beyond parody.
