I don't think they really caught my attention until college but once I learned neutrinos could change flavors and we still don't really know why, I was hooked!

The real problem is that capitalism has created such deep inequalities that it requires ever-escalating brute force to impose them on people. Until we achieve real social change, we are only going to see more violence. Legitimizing capitalism means justifying murder. crimethinc.com/posters/the-...

And now I've made myself sad so I'll just pay @miawong.bsky.social a tribute and end with Moreover, ICE must be destroyed.

These are fundamentally the interests that science serves when done on behalf of nations and it's why government-funded science is even a thing. And that sucks because it could so easily be so much more.

No, competition like I'm talking about only comes in when there is a national need to dominate. American companies need to dominate global markets to maintain the economic hegemony of the global north. The American military needs to dominate through the possession of superior weaponry.

And even then, you're working towards the same goal: expanding human knowledge. At that point it's just a ego thing of who gets the credit, and more than likely, there's still collaboration occurring there.

What is inherently competitive about learning more about the workings universe around us? Okay maybe you have a rival research team at a rival university working on a similar project. That's obviously not what I'm talking about here though.

But I hate seeing people need to try to argue for the validity of that by appealing to American economic and military interests via the intentionally vague notion of "American competitiveness in science."

Now obviously this isn't why many (hopefully most?) of us do or love science. Science is a fundamentally cool as fuck endeavor! We get to learn about our world and the universe around us! That's why (again, hopefully most) people get into science.

"It forced me to confront ideas about economics, capitalism, and social welfare that I’d always taken for granted. Is corporate greed a force for evil if it leads to innovations that save lives?" Business schools must be the most braindead enterprises in existence holy fuck

What a weird statement for a supposed anti fascist. But thanks for earning a place on the block list so easily

Can't qwhite put my finger on it... Side note if you want entirely too much backstory on the whole thing, @socialistdogmom.bsky.social over on her podcast Weird Little Guys has a like 6 or 7 episode series deep diving into how this came about

Unfortunately I think that would also include the Zizians

In fairness, any dipshit with half a braincell could have told you he's a born bootlicker years ago. They have no excuses

Literally found Davenriche because they hold a Big Gay Sword Day event every June. Homie has clearly never felt excluded from a space in his life till he learned he'd have to share one with the gays

If we want better fashion culture in the US, we have to lower the cost of housing and commercial real estate, support independent craftspeople, build denser neighborhoods, improve walkability, and get rid of overly restrictive zoning laws. Let kook culture thrive.

I know citing wikipedia is gauche, but it's a good source *for other sources on the topic* as usual. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian... Plenty of reading material there. If you can debunk it without conspiracism creeping in, I'm game for rebuttals

[citation needed] At least try to find some information before saying all that with nothing to back it up. The evidence is quite solid so far as I'm concerned, but cannot be blamed as the sole cause of Trump's original win (which is what libs will try to do, you're right about that)
