I’ve had this weird idea that conservatism emerges from times of affluence. Post-2020 has been weird in that unemployment effects were blunted by generous benefits. We also saw high wage growth, high inflation and that angered people last election. My example is the years 2004-2007.

It's worth remembering that many people who became aware of how bad things really are started off as liberals. I once was so proud to call myself a "Democrat" and "Liberal" many years ago. People's minds can be changed if they are open to see the world for how it really is.
