Once again, follow the money and things become much clearer.

Public library energy is the best energy. Like here is all the knowledge we could find, it's been meticulously organized and catalogued and it will cost you nothing today, welcome to the absolute pinnacle of human civic evolution, feel free to pull up any bean bag chair you like :) 📚❤️

New in @theguardian.com from the President of @ala-acrl.bsky.social: "Cutting [federal library] funding is more than just budget trimming. It means dismantling essential community infrastructure." Read President Lo's full article: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... #ForOurLibraries #FundLibraries

Today, we sent a letter warning the new Institute of Museum and Library Services acting director not to cut library programs required by federal law. www.ala.org/news/2025/03...

The Department of Defense deleted websites for Navajo Code Talkers and an Iwo Jima flag raiser under Trump's order banning anything that remotely looks like DEI via @diinsilversmith.bsky.social

A student’s view of #OhioSB1, the Higher Education Destruction Act published in the Cincinnati Enquirer. www.cincinnati.com/story/opinio...

What makes SB1, the Higher Ed Destruction Act, so destructive? Why are we protesting this Wed. 3/19 at 1:30 (see our pinned post)? Quick breakdown linked: @rachelcoyleohio.bsky.social @aaup.bsky.social @indivcentraloh.bsky.social @howthingsworkoh.bsky.social www.ohiostateaaup.org/uploads/1/3/...

Trump and the Muskrats are coming for your local libraries. Call your Congress critter. Libraries all over the country get grants from IMLS with funding priorities set by the states. We received several at my first public library. They were a huge help on everything from tech to literacy/ESL.

#StopSB1! House vote on Ohio SB1 expected Wednesday, March 19. Join the protest and let Columbus know how you feel about the Higher Education Destruction Act!

If Ohio's SB1 passes, faculty would be under a "grotesque surveillance system" and easily fire-able. So much for academic freedom.

The Musk-rats have no clue how government works. Then again you don’t need to if the only goal is to destroy it.

Follow the money. Again. 18F *is* the gold standard for making government more efficient yet they were “deleted” by Musk. Why? Because he wants his companies to do the work at a higher cost and have infinite data control of our data. Control the data and you control the government.

Measles, flu, and Covid oh my. People are going to die. I see headlines like this and I can just see the dominos fall in horrible ways. Please folks. You really don’t want to see what fun polio is.

Happy Caturday Night

Follow the money. Musk buys a candidate, who puts Musk employees in place to give mega contracts to a Musk company. This is the definition of government corruption.

A student view of Ohio SB1- the Higher Education Destruction Act.

Prof. Pedro Pereira, OSU AAUP member: "By casting suspicion on an entire profession and by insisting on imposing a nefarious bill despite the overwhelming rejection by Ohioans," proponents of SB 1 "want to overhaul Ohio’s higher education system to make sure that it *won’t* attract brilliant minds."

An Ohio sunset can be cheering in trying times.

Locally trying to finish a union contract to formalize being organized. Statewide we’re trying try fend off a higher education destruction event. Nationally we’re facing an autocoup. Not enough time in the day to act in the ways we wish. But here are resources so we can act

More than a week after the Senate passed SB1, they’ve finally uploaded the remaining opposing testimony (>150). It’s now 998 opposed to 15 in favor. No one wants this bill and even the Gov and Lt Gov are questioning it’s premise.

“Again and again the Ohio Republicans have shown they don’t care what Ohioans think or want.” 837 testified against the #SB1 Ohio Higher Education Destruction Act versus 15 in favor. The Senate voted yes anyway.

SB1 is garbage and our students know it. #StopSB1

SB 1 was rushed through the Senate, and the same is expected when deliberations begin in the House. This is why Ohio papers are already calling on @GovMikeDeWine to veto The Higher Education Destruction Act. #StopSB1

The young guys working at DOGE should be known as the Muskrats. Elon and the Muskrats would make a better Captain and Tennille cover band than an alleged governmental agency.

It’s obvious they don’t want anyone speaking truth to power or uncovering their grifts.

Keep an eye on what gets tossed in this purge. Libraries are representations of reality. Tossing books is an effort to reshape perceptions of reality into an alternate reality.

I’d be curious if the art was removed due to specific rules, fearing ambiguous rules, or gleeful fulfillment of the rules. Censoring students strikes me as gleeful fulfillment of the rules.

This DOE DEI order is full of doublethink. Makes my head want to explode.

When SB1 passed the Ohio Senate students were escorted out of the chambers — essentially for telling the truth to the powerful who refused to listen.

Ohio students are not rolling over and letting SB1/HB6 ruin their education without a fight. You shouldn’t either.

#Ohio SB1/HR6 would require public posting of all course syllabi keyword searchable with all topics and readings. This isn’t about students choosing courses— they don’t go up until the first day of classes. This is about mining the syllabi for artificial outrage then harassing the faculty.

Eliminate the data and you can tell whatever story you want.

An antidote to the day’s news

Ohio Senate passes the SB1 Higher Education Destruction Act 21-11. Students chant in protest “who killed higher ed? The Ohio Senate did!” (Video shared by observers from Honesty for Education)

Nearly 9 hours of testimony opposing Ohio SB1. Blog post from an OSU professor at the statehouse yesterday. pranavjani.medium.com/ohioans-spok...

Ohio SB1, the Higher Education Destruction Act, had 15 witness testimony in favor and more than 800 in opposition. Oral testimony in opposition started today and 1:30pm EST and as of 9pm continues unstopped. This is a bill no one wants.

Ohio Senate Bill 1 bans DEI so broadly and vaguely that it would even kills scholarships encouraging men to enter education or nursing or give Appalachian students a way to attend college. Call your reps today to say No to SB1. pen.org/dont-censor-...

Reading everything Bills QB Josh Allen accomplished this year in one list is jaw dropping. And to think the Bills were predicted to finish 3rd in the East in a rebuilding year.
