'The Great Gatsby' was published 100 years ago today, on April 10, 1925. I remember other kids being assigned it in high school but I wasn't. I didn't read it myself until I was in my thirties. As soon as I finished it I read it again, then again. It's a perfect little gem—not a wasted word.

Had to explain to a friend who was making themselves small to not burden me that I am a firm believer of putting my "oxygen mask" on first. If you're on an aircraft that's part of the safety instructions. Put your mask on and then assist others. You're no help to others if you're unconscious.
