The reports from the massive demonstration in Philadelphia are that 70 protesters were arrested for sitting down in an intersection. To my knowledge this was the first mass arrest of civil disobedience protesters resisting the trump administration.

I learned that some lawyers are calling May 1 "rule of law day" other years that would strike me as ironic, since May day became international workers day in memory of the Chicago Anarchist Martyrs. but this year, rule of law is opposed to tyranny, not anarchy.

And City hall was one of two in Ann Arbor, the other at Vets park. But the big thing to remember is that there were over a thousand demonstrations across the US on May 1st. The only estimate I could find for nation wide turnout said more than 250,000 people. Not bad for a Thursday.

Certainly the biggest May Day event I've ever been to in Ann Arbor !(and I've been to a few). And City hall was one of two in Ann Arbor, the other at Vets park. But the big thing to remember is that there were over a thousand demonstrations across the US on May 1st.

biobanks may lead to precision medicine but my opinion is that successes are still limited. as the abstract mentions "We discuss the limitations of their designs,"

RFK is right about diet and lifestyle, but his prescriptions on diet are off. Less meat and cheese could help a lot with the chronic disease epidemic. The fortunate coincidence is that it could help address climate change as well.

we need more young representatives. If the leadership of the Democratic Party resists democratic initiatives in its ranks, activists like me will continue to work for democracy, but working within the Democratic Party is not the only way to defend our democracy from the attacks of authoritarianism."

But in clearly blue districts there is a need for debate and even primary contests. I support David Hogg's efforts to open the party to new leaders. I am not young (62), but it's clear to me that we needs more elected official of whatever age who are ready to fight hard for our democracy, and . . .

Gandhi got it right when asked what he thought about Western Civilization, his response was "I think it would be a good idea."
Now that western civilization has ended, we need a civilization more than ever, but we are father from it.

I like the consensus nature of jury trials, and the fact that the judge can instruct but the jury is free to decide however they choose. Nonetheless, juries carry the authority over defendants. With that in mind, if it felt like an exercise in anti-authoritarianism, quit a comment on these times.

Neither could I, but that is why I think that vegan refers to diet. we can debate whether it only refers to diet, but to my mind diet is at least part of the definition.

I find the freegans I know to have ethics around not causing harm to animals. They believe that since the damage has been done and they are not contributing to the harm in any way, e.g. not paying the exploiters, or encouraging further meat production, they are acting ethically towards animals.

I'm thinking about "Freegans" who eat meat from dumpsters. Since money isn't spent to promote meat production Freegans argue that they haven't exploited the animals. I respect their ethics but don't want to be feed something and told it is vegan because the meat or cheese came from a dumpster.

so eating animals is ok as long as you don't exploit them?

Anarchist should be able to see the difference between various state structures, and some structures may provide a modicum of protection against the excesses of others.

Coming out of the libertarian socialist tradition (also known as Anarchist left) it's a bit strange demonstrating to defend the government. But I remember the line from Phranc the Queer folk singer "Fascism is not Anarchy" .
