Tears of the Black Tiger (2000) A feast of flamboyance from Thailand about the doomed love affair between an outlaw cowboy and an upper crust woman Written and directed by Wasit Sasanatieng - BOTD in 1963

Saw 28 YEARS LATER. Speaking as someone who's not the biggest fan of Danny Boyle, I was startled at how poetic and contemplative the film is. Likely the closest we'll ever get to a Terence Malick-directed zombie flick. Not that the film's stingy with the gore, violence and zombie penises, mind you.

Still Life (1974) Sublime minimalist Iranian film depicting the monotonous days of an aging railway crossing guard, who lives with his wife in the middle of nowhere in a one room home. Recommended to fans of Chantal Akerman and Bela Tarr. Written/directed by Sohrab Shahid-Saless - BOTD in 1944

ZaSu Pitts has terrible news for Rudolph Valentino in A SOCIETY SENSATION. She's only a minor character and the film is a standard romantic programmer but I really do wish it had been just them having goofy adventures together.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! My #LastFourWatched 🎥 A solid true crime thriller from last year, docs about Norman Mailer's failed 1969 NYC mayoral campaign and Paul Reubens' somewhat more successful career in show biz, and a gleefully low brow Stephen Chow flick
