It is also nearly impossible to tell if a university will go bust....universities borrow money from banks...If they get into financial trouble, they will renegotiate the terms of their loan with the bank...no bank wants to see a university which owes them money failing'.

"Cardiff has embraced the entirely bizarre proposition that the global and transtemporal examination of culture is possible even without the provision of languages at degree level. There are very many reasons why this is alarming." 👇👇

I doubt any Troll here who’s trying to smear ⁦Keir Starmer about decade-old events will be interested to read these pages from my book about his record prosecuting rape gangs. But he’s done more to bring them to justice than Farage, Yaxley-Lennon - or Musk -will ever do.

The damage being done to Britain's research base by letting a pseudo-market crumble up university depts and throw them in the bin... Well, it's really something.

Please consider signing this petition to prevent catastrophic job cuts at Oxford Brookes. Arts & humanities are besieged as a consequence of policy changes, among other things. Brookes won't be the last to go through this. Solidarity is essential. https://t.co/mNbElDKP5k

Just days before the start of the inquest into the death of Ruth Perry – the Reading primary headteacher who took her own life following an Ofsted inspection of her school – her family have learnt that their application for Legal Aid to fund their legal representation has been rejected.

The Arts and Humanities Alliance remains deeply concerned by news of proposed closures & redundancies in a number of our disciplines: Languages & cultures at Aberdeen University and most recently the planned cuts to English, History, Film, & closure of Music at Oxford Brookes.

Terrible news: “Today Oxford Brookes announced the closure of its Maths & Music departments, & that many colleagues in others are at risk of redundancies in a ridiculously short timeframe & insulting VS scheme: in English, History, Film, Anthropology, and more to come. All doing great research.”

University English OGM on 8 December, 10.30-3 with sessions on AI, REF, SUMS data work, #EnglishCreates campaign, and how to support depts facing redundancies. Please book your spot via the EventBrite page tinyurl.com/ywxhztxm ALL WELCOME

Rather sadly - my first post on here is to let anyone who will listen know that English/Creative Writing at Oxford Brookes is facing massive redundancies - 40% of staff to be culled by January including my own role. Please share and support, we are trying to save our livelihoods #SaveBrookesEnglish
