And a swastika is an ancient Hindu symbol that nazis repurposed. Like language, semiotics evolve with cultural use of signage.

David Pakman posted a YT video this week about possible ways he has been told he & other independent creators could be targeted. MTN has already dealt with some of this stuff & has written about it on Substack. youtu.be/i5aleKSQTyM?...

I'd like to see a breakdown of where electricity is coming from. We should be charged less for renewables. That would also encourage investment in more renewable energy.

The silence of the crowd is the respect that is difficult to adequately describe. Thank you for checking it out.

I like this channel on yt. She's a good news source if you just want some facts without all the hyperbole & excessive chat. youtu.be/iuDxTyDILsw?...

It's like cutting out your car insurance & home insurance to save yourself money.

Just an example of how 'obvious' it is in a city. I was living in the US during this time. I made clay poppies. I felt annoyed by a lack of awareness & no public observations. youtu.be/QqVWvAdLewc?...

Nah, you have "Happy Veterans' Day" - that tone wouldn't be tolerated over here. There is nothing happy about it. We do not have sales, ordinary people go to local services to pay respects. On Armistice Day Centenary, giant screens were set up in cities. Edinburgh's is on yt. Massive turnout.

I feel like a year could be a VERY long time right now, especially in politics.

I agree entirely. There seems to be unity across the political spectrum after the past week's events & comments, esp on Ukraine. I think there is more of a demand for him to stand united with Europe, so I'm going to keep hoping for that. Capitulation will make him even more unpopular... 🤞🏼

Yeah, I really hope he is trying to be a mediator like he says & that he's not going to roll over. Not sure that's going to work, but i would prefer diplomacy to work. Next week he's in DC, we will see if he can stand strong.

our history, we can still see things that reinforce it. We observe remembrance day w/ poppies, poppy wreaths,& educational programmes. Growing up in the 90s, school projects required talking to family abt what they did in WWII. Ex-armed services people give talks. I think there is less distance. 2/2

I had a conversation about this recently. I think it's true. Here, we still have visible scars from WWII: weird architecture side-by-side where bombings happened, war memorials (cenotaphs) in every village, stubs of metal in old walls where fences were cut for war efforts + more. When we learn 1/

There's a recent (this month) LA Times article about recruitment at the White House. They were asking people to demonstrate how they showed allegiance to maga, apparently. And more.

It's not like they don't then get the opportunity to appoint another Republic. It is so weak that they are approving these people when there are far more qualified people still on their side.

I can't stand him, but the fact he has US citizenship means he did pass a test.

Worth noting the UK papers being shared today are right leaning (/Conservative) papers. Our left-leaning papers are taking a similar position.

I am missing *like in my first sentence. My mistake. Both are multi-system chronic illnesses triggered by infections.

There's a lot more research into Long Covid in the past few years that have more specifics, but over a longer period of time, CFS/ME research has looked at multi-level systemic dysfunction as well. It's not 'just' fatigue. The same funding has never been there, LC research is helping CFS/ME too.

We are taught in school here (UK) that appeasement was the worst policy at that time. Many history essays have been written on whether a better policy could have stopped the war. I do believe Europe knows what 'never again' really means, but we all need to step up & stand united here. ✌🏼

I don't disagree with the process, but I do think it's important that people look for details, not just headlines. That would help with EVERYTHING.

I believe a lot of military equipment that was sent to Ukraine was US equipment being retired, so the newly manufactured equipment upgrades US capabilities. Details: www.csis.org/analysis/wha...

That Wikipedia article (i think I mentioned it here) includes gerrymandering under 'election interference' & also discusses voter registration issues & mail in ballots being discounted. I do think various factors contributed. It's hard to know exactly how much impact they had. Likely significant.

By that logic, you could also say that nearly 50% of the US is left (well, their 'left'/D). It's true, but they don't really hold much power right now. That said, I hope Germany, & Canada, can still say that about the far right after their elections.
