This is the hill I’ll die on. Art is a lot more than just content. It can advocate for things that are right and teach humans about our history.
It’s a part of our existence to make art. I will not cede ground to anyone on that point whether it’s commercial art or not. It’s all important.

This is all to say something cheesy, but: Don’t neglect to dig deeper with what you’re watching.
You can get more out of the films that you watch by having the perspective of context and how humans chose to express themselves through cinema. There are lessons to be learned and be challenged.

Not every film has major significance, obvi, but they’re all a reflection of the lived experiences of the people that “chose” to make them. That includes the surface level, mass market films and the artsy fartsy indies of today.

Films have the ability to carry so much more historical context along with the story and characters that are presented in them. I believe that we, as an audience, sometimes take it for granted when we watch films for the sake of completion in the current landscape of content creation.

I really liked The Substance but I have been dying to see this movie and missed it in theaters. I like the ideas of both of those movies and I Saw The TV Glow.
All introspective character focused stories about their relationship with themselves in horrifying and beautiful ways.
Blood cannon.

It’s so ridiculously blatant. People forget/ don’t care why we have social security in the first place: To pay money towards our elderly and disabled. It’s not perfect but it was something that actively helped old people in our communities

It’s both virtue signaling and cowardly since he won’t say what he really wants to say.
DEN-Word..
The only thing that gives me some comfort is that they are truly out of touch with what most people like. They think they do because of an election, but they are not what the culture is feeling.

It’s very much a, “hey. They can’t do that to our people. Only WE can do that to our people.”

Between the Blank Check Hulk podcast and Patton Oswalt doing Nick Nolte, seeing Nick Nolte as a young man always makes me double take.
He was a GORGEOUS hunk!

I also felt, for 1937 at least, it attempted to portray how stressful it is to take in your elderly parents fairly bluntly.
I don’t know if the film was responsible for Social Security, but I read that it was kind of advocating for it.
