Houston based CRM archaeologist interested in the late 19th/early 20th century. In particular WWI training camps and conflict sites. I also sometimes have thoughts on movies, beer, and politics. You know, human culture and stuff.

I went and looked up the bill text. As with most christo-facist legislation these days, it's lazily written. So much so that it would apply to any dates 3,000 years ago or 300 million years ago.

Not sure why the headline says they're "strange fossils", but it sounds like an interesting find, particularly if they end up finding a human component.

"The INAH stated that, although the YouTuber’s video offers “distorted” information, its dissemination 'may motivate interest among young audiences in Mexico and around the world to learn about our ancestral cultures and visit archaeological sites.'" Nope 🤦‍♀️ 🏺

This is a good mug.

Any archaeologists read the novel that is the source material for this show? 🏺 variety.com/2025/tv/news...

It's really funny how the recognized MLB hit king, Pete Rose, is an ugly goofus who spent his entire life being an unrepentant piece of shit, and the recognized actual hit king, Ichiro Suzuki, is at minimum a top 5 coolest person alive

Why aren't the US Senators for Texas fighting tooth and nail for this?! Cruz has long been useless to his constituents, and now Cornyn is busy eating trump burgers to fight off a challenge from the state's felon attorney general.

They should just LET THEM HIRE TO FILL ALL THE POSITIONS. For gods sakes.

It’s already hitting 100+ degrees in parts of Texas. And currently over 50% of our electricity is being generated by renewables. Yet the Texas GOP wants to undermine the alternative energy industry in Texas. www.news-journal.com/news/busines...

At a minimum everyone involved should be forced to resign and be banned from public office.

I mean, of course this was inevitable. - If you pretend "de-extinction" is a thing (which it isn't), then #extinction becomes nothing. 🤷‍♂️ www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi... via @washingtonpost.com

Pete Rose raped children and today Rob Manfred paved the way for him to receive the highest honor Major League Baseball can bestow.

When trump shows to pick up his bribe plane we should arrest him, like those really sketchy stings where cops offer a free playstation to people with outstanding warrants.

The Commanders stadium itself, it's becoming clear, is only an amuse-bouche for the far bigger subsidy Josh Harris is set to receive via rent-free use of city-controlled property for private commercial development.

Thanks. I hate it.

It's long past time for the US to send a president to prison.

Literally every single day, United States leadership in scientific research is being tossed in the trash like rotting food and all that power is being ceded to Europe, China, and any other country with a leader that has a brain.

It's upper 70's / low 80's with low humidity in Houston. In May. All the patio beers.

1) USPS did not lose $3.3b. It provided a service that cost $3.3b. *The Pentagon* loses you money, however, every time it accidentally yeets a fighter jet off the deck of a carrier

The HPF is bipartisan. It has already been authorized & appropriated by Congress. It is in the budget. The funds have not been released. OMB & NPS are pointing their fingers at eachother about who is at fault. It doesn't matter. The Trump admin needs to stop withholding money from Congress.

@bmiklasz.bsky.social I'm just blown away by the road/home splits for the Cardinal's. I'm having a hard time remembering when I last saw such an extreme diversion. Some of those early Rockies teams?

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

Red Dress Day honours missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people. The day was inspired by Métis artist Jaime Black-Morsette’s REDress Project, which was an installation of empty red dresses as "an aesthetic response to this critical national issue."

If I was the star of a late 90's comedy about an idiot accidentally launched into space.

Mad about the threat of public land sell-offs? So are we. That’s why we made this tool where you can easily email your members of Congress: www.conservationlands.org/keep_public_... Our access to nature and the outdoors is at risk. We need to keep speaking up in defense of the lands we love. 🌲

Texas conservatives who've championed book bans & anti-LGBT policies suffered big losses tonight in school board races. And They seem to have lost their working majorities to pass their policies in big school boards. I tracked these results in FOUR boards tonight. So a 🧵 on each ICYMI.

Happy May the Fourth. We're at NASA looking at big ass rockets.

Just a reminder that most of Trump's executive orders are nothing more than press releases. After he ordered the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to pull funding for NPR and PBS, the CPB responded that it is authorized and funded by Congress and is not subject to the president's authority.

Good time to remember that Republicans don't think catholicism, or any religion not evangelical prosperity gospel, is a faith worthy of respect.

@bmiklasz.bsky.social the wildest thing about these Cardinal's is that, even with their flaws, they're usually fun to watch playing at home, yet borderline unwatchable on the road.

The default Dem position should be that nothing under Trump is valid. Trump didn't honor his predecessors' agreements. He didn't even honor his own trade agreements. He didn't honor Congressional appropriations. He doesn't follow laws. Clean slate. If you rely on him, your loss.
