In “Way of the Kings” there’s a cursed king who doesn’t know whether he will wake up a genius or an idiot each morning. That’s how I am now with anger. Today I am very angry.

Look, here me out, games are fun and good.

Sometimes you go to a new coffee shop and order off their daily menu something cutsy like "steamy caramel joy", and then that shit vibrates you into a higher dimension. Why does my skin feel like a blanket of quarks? And what kind of weak ass caffeine have I been consuming up to this point?

Look, I'm not a fancy CEO guy, but if someone said to me "the key to this successful single-player IP's success is to make it purely a multiplayer game. No, not a spin off: fundamentally change the DNA of what people loved about the core game" to me, I'd probably, like, quit that job or something.

Once again, suits in the c-suite show they have no fucking idea what makes a good video game. www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/it...

Among the many themes of Severance I enjoy(?) is the simple, unnerving truth that you don't know your coworkers but you spend more time with them than most of your loved ones.

Framing our lives by eras of trauma is natural, but def feels detrimental. I think Adam is on to something about the scale of time this creates in us.

Downloading mods has me like

Building a PC? You gotta give em that Noctua on that thang

I love aiming a laser beam but, devs, its time for us to get a new schtick in puzzle design. (None of you better dare link this back to me when I invariably include a laser beam puzzle in a game.)

“[insert game title] is not a [game in the series it’s objectively a part of]” is by far the most annoyingly boring video game related take. It always says *way* more about the person proclaiming it than the game itself.

A lot of people I have worked with for a lot of years have been "released to industry" today. I hope everyone lands on their feet but, like every time, we are going to lose from talent from games forever.

In my videos, I often refer to a game's devs by their company title because 1) games are made by dozens, if not 100's of devs and 2) criticism virtually never applies to just one. But games aren't made by companies, they're made by people.

Not to vague post

Say "Hidden Bek Base" five times fast.

Loooord that second episode of Severance s2

The only thing I miss from twitter is the drafts. Where am I supposed to write all the stupid shit I never plan on posting?

I am tired of the doom and gloom; whats something good in your life right now? For me Im very thankful to have my girlfriend, and friends who remind me that I am deserving of love.

I'm obsessed with Plant Coaster players spending dozens of hours making fake parking lots instead of a theme park. Hilarious; highly relatable.

Should I make a tik tok?

Besides Bioware's library, what other branching narrative games carry over player choice from one game to the next? I know the Witcher trilogy does, but don't recall any other modern examples. Exempt branching novels (e.g. Tell Tale), pondering specifically about video games with gamified conflict.

I can't tell you how morally superior I feel chewing that all natural chewing gum from Trader Joe's.

oh yeah, i dropped a video yesterday with 10 video essays you NEED to watch, recommended by the best video essayists on YouTube.

Happy New Year, errrbody! Gameservatory is gonna look a bit different next year. News to come. Thanks for hanging on for the ride.

LMFAO

If people don't like a game, I don't understand why they constantly talk about it? When I don't like something, I put my effort in avoiding it instead of engaging with it. Makes me wonder if these people have no personality outside of what they hate.

It's finally happening

My next video deals a lot with The Matrix films, so I've been watching em on repeat. One thing I just noticed in Reloaded was that the Architect's proposal to Neo is phrased as an ultimatum (save Zion my way or damn the entire human race to extinction), but in reality it's a deceptively-worded plea.
