Evacuated for a bomb threat from Proud Boys at the Principles First (Never Trumpers) conference in DC. Because the president pardoned and encouraged a bunch of terrorists, and that’s the new reality for any kind of prominent opponents of his.

I once wrote an episode of Adam Ruins Everything where he said that IQ is a bad measure of actual mental ability. It got some of the most wild, furious responses online. There are people who base their entire world view on a relatively meaningless number

I genuinely think that people who throe a sieg heil should be met with violence up to and including lethal violence, and were I ever on a jury for such a crime I would decline to convict.

also lmao it looks so much like the new Prius (which costs half as much) now

If anyone brings up the increase in autism diagnoses, here's a useful graph and article www.psu.edu/news/researc...

The thing the right-wing took away from non-prosecution of W-era torture wasn't that they were fortunate that Obama was willing to look forward, it was that installing John Yoo's to write memos saying "[illegal thing] is actually legal" is a cheat code to rewrite the laws however you want

This is true, but also the exit poll indicates the AfD underperformed their recent polling and came in a rather distant second to the boring post-Merkel conservative union. www.tagesschau.de/wahl/archiv/...

what people who don't play games don't understand about him paying other people to do things which he imagines himself as having done then fumbles remarkably badly in ways apparent even to total beginners when he takes control with his unearned confidence is that's all he's ever done with everything

Speaking of "intent of the Framers," we don't have to guess what they'd think about the Secretary of War saying he's going to use the enormous standing army to break the law.

This is exactly the same rationale as the war on remote work. “I wouldn’t do anything unless someone were watching over my shoulder, so the same must be true of these people.”

There are genuine questions about who is carrying out all these sweeping illegal actions within the federal government. It's not Trump (golfing continuously) or Musk (posting continuously). So it's a bunch of 20-something cybercriminals?

Bessent: "We make money if the Ukrainian people make money. I believe w/the US, our know-how, our businesses willing to come in & provide capital, we can accelerate the Ukrainian growth trajectory & take in substantial monies for US taxpayers & get the Ukrainian economy on a great growth trajectory"

Regan is the reason why we are here! If somebody claims to be anti-Trump but pro-Regan, they *are* pro-Trump, it's just that it should look clean and manicured

He's such a goddamn idiot he doesn't understand that he 100% confirms that it is, in fact, what you do when you're about do some crimes

Too simple to even try and cover his tracks.

Hegseth says firing of top military lawyers was about making sure "they don't exist to be roadblocks to anything that happens."

From Religious Studies at York Twitter account: The administration at York University has suspended admissions to the Religious Studies program . . . The faculty have written this statement. We ask you to will distribute it widely and write to York's administration to protest this decision.

Gotta admit I'm impressed with whatever editor at freaking Bloomberg decided to ask @lioneltrolling.bsky.social to honestly review some airport bookstand trash from one of the feted VC elite. That's the kind of decision that actually brings in subscribers instead of repelling them.

This isn’t drugs. This is him assuming other people don’t work because he doesn’t do that much work. Very common bad boss behavior. bsky.app/profile/rcma...

I know the Afghan War has been memory-holed, but this is yet another example of how it has cast a long shadow: Pete's hatred of JAGs ("jagoffs," according to his book) stems from his belief that they put onerous restrictions on combat action in Afghanistan, breeding timidity and leading to US defeat

I phonebanked and organized this election, and this is absolutely true—genocide didn’t cost Dems the election by votes, it did bc it shut down the people who do all your activism and outreach.

Oh this! The Democrats embracing genocide and not fighting it took away so many of the people who usually help on policy stuff. Like people are all up in arms about who everyone voted for but what really hurt them is the lack of organizers

the way this incident was covered was ultimate vindication for "they want trump to win" theory. totally buried in the final weeks of the campaign despite indicating serious, serious health and mental problems for trump

There's going to be news about a woman illegally detained and being forcely removed from a Coeur d'Alene Idaho Town Hall meeting taking place at the high school by men that would not identify themselves wearing plain clothes because she opposed the republican viewpoints. youtube.com/shorts/hhJdH...

I wouldn’t think “moved to root out diversity initiatives” is a useful phrase for journalism at all, but using it as a euphemism for a purge of high ranking black officers is downright Orwellian.

Claire Marie caught me in action drawing Luigi Mangione’s supporters at his hearing yesterday. More to come tomorrow on @theverge.com

Guy who doesn’t even respond to the mothers of his children: reply to my email or you’re fired

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Also if you feel strongly about Eric Adams, you should call your city councilmember to express that and ask for their position. You’d be surprised. Hochul’s stance is highly disappointing but it doesn’t come from nowhere. Press all your electeds. City elections are in 5 months. Ask candidates too.

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaAaaaaaaaAAAAAH

I hope it goes without saying that this goes doubly for purged military officers

very cool discourse on the Army subreddit rn

Keep a close eye on Tesla's participation in open sourcing the NACS standard. No doubt in my mind they will now back out and make it impossible for competitors to charge on Tesla's chargers.

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

That is a real quote. Jfc

Just a reminder that fascists, authoritarians, dictators of all stripes destroy archives— books, museums, databases, &c— because those things provide windows onto a plurality of other ways we might organize the world. And so preserving, defending, and spreading that knowledge harms those regimes.
