I run the Good Anime Never Gets Old fansubs, when I'm not too busy. In the meantime I rant about old cartoons, or whatever else is on my mind.

RTD has always had a problem with sympathy toward characters who are not the Doctor or the companion. I'll never forget Mickey "the idiot" who did nothing wrong except just not being as cool a boyfriend as the Doctor?

For the same reason other creators from the same circle are. They're popular and easy target for drama clickbait. Also, I can imagine like with AVGN, some of his audience is ... shall we say not well? and decided some choice by him meant betrayal for which he must be destroyed.

People talk about “episodic” TV as a lost art, and sometimes obsess about “monster of the week”, but a good standalone episode of TV drama simply has to have an ending in it, to travel and arrive. It’s the refusal to end that makes streaming narrative so frustrating.

For all of the cynical assumptions I had about what it would be when I first saw it, I was pleasantly surprised that it was okay.
I have absolutely no interest in this becoming a regular thing - a LL for a new generation - but for a oneshot, it was a nice little homage.

Tbh, maybe it's me, but I would find more shocking that Asterix had sex at all than that he might be a poonhound. I can totally see him not getting at all what she's getting at.
