I am probably in the minority here, but 20 years of editing a lit mag and press really did a number on my ability or willingness to write.

My rising sign

Wasn’t super impressed with the fellow butch patient who called me “mevrouw” at the gender clinic today

I'm sad to share that the trans vet that took her life outside the VA last week was apparently Elisa Rae Shupe. She's someone many of us know - she was responsible for the mass email leak that let us know how the ADF, Heritage, etc planned to enact trans eradication we see today. RIP Elisa.

if i text you this just know you’re cooked

There are certain days when I wish there were a geographical filter on the internet. Super Bowl Sunday is one of these days. Americans are so loud.

The number of times I heard a lesbian at the lesbian wine tasting tonight say wow this place is so gay

the first step to avoiding a trap is knowing it’s a trap. unfortunately this is also the last step of being trapped in a trap so good luck i guess

I've been thinking about Kate McKinnon's "Hallelujah" in 2016, and what it's like to watch it now: shellsinanorange.blog/2025/02/08/a...

Major breaking trans news: The ACLU has launched a lawsuit on behalf of 7 transgender people affected by Trump’s passport ban. Incredible filing. The Trump admin is now swarmed with lawsuits over discriminatory and illegal executive orders.

Roman hotels are so extra

I dunno, a 6-hour turnaround rejection from a lit mag just feels insulting

«When most people go to the movies, the ultimate compliment for them is to say: “We didn’t notice the time pass!” With me, you see the time pass. And feel it pass. You also sense that this is the time that leads towards death. And that’s why there’s so much resistance» Chantal Akerman, Paris, 1979

I think I’m going to stand outside and scream for about 5 minutes later today.

We may have to accept that America isn't that great at being America.

The kids are now playing what appears to be apocalypse. They keep telling each other of the dangers of “the outside world” and are building a fort.

My kids are playing “Taylor Swift concert”

Thread: Saturday is Imbolc, which celebrates the first day of Spring in Ireland. It is an ancient Gaelic-Celtic feast & is also marked as St Bridget’s Day, its Christian re-incarnation. In schools children make Bridget’s crosses to celebrate it. (pictured: Hill of Tara)

The like caresses or devours its like. Whether he eat a lamb or cover a she-wolf, the wolf can do no more than make or remake a wolf. - Paul Valery's Lucretius in "Dialogue of the Tree"

I dunno about advice loves, mostly I reckon that all I know is that I know nothing, but I do think Frank Bidart got it right with this

I think that we should be talking about what Trump is trying to do to trans people in the context of the Nuremberg laws.

Somehow managed not to full-on break down yet, then I read this

Love this review and also doesn’t this summarize so much pop American poetry: “Is this an insight? Is this transcendence? Or is this dorm-room philosophizing the kind of thing you tell yourself when you’ve decided you need to have an insight”
