This is a good observation! Dye does seem to stand apart from the most commonly discussed eras and genres. I see him as a modern architect—roughly a contemporary of RTJ, Nicklaus, the Fazios, etc.—but he always found ways to differentiate himself from his competitors.

Haven't been to Louisville proper, but my understanding is that it's a bit of a public golf desert. If you can get to French Lick, the Ross course is a good (if pricey) option. I've also heard Chariot Run is decent.

Bummer to miss out on Yarra Yarra, Woodlands, Metro, and National Gunnamatta, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
It's also worth keeping an eye on OCM's ongoing work at Huntingdale and Long Island. When those open back up, they're probably going to be really good.
