A little bird ID quiz. From the local nature reserve. 🤔

Tour almost ready to go! Lots of new sounds & stories as well as new threads & elements to others. The first two gigs are sold out with most others heading that way. I can’t wait! I have a few mics to collect here before coming home from Catalunya so hope to add even more sounds.

A nice selection of waders on the scrapes at Low Newton today.

This petition is 12th highest of 823 petitions on parliament website petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70... Thank you if you have signed. Plz have a look if you haven’t signed yet. We are aiming for 100,000 signatures by 22 May to trigger parliamentary debate.

After months of searching for the correct ringing scheme, I've got some info back on the CR dunlin that was at Low Newton 26th August 2024. Ssp arctica, ringed as an adult (incubating 3 eggs) in North East Greenland, 18th July 2023. Also seen there 13th July 2024. A movement of 2320km. Amazing !

A couple of colour ringed Rock Pipits on the beach at Low Newton today, green CK and green CP, both part of the Low Newton Rock Pipit Project. These are returning birds that winter here, both were ringed as littoralis in spring 2023. Last 2 pics are of green CP taken on 24th March 2023. #NEBirding

Heavy snowfall brought a lot of the 170 #AlstonWetland #Snipe out into the open today. This one showed really well just in front of the central viewing screen. #waders #shorebirds #lancsbirding

1/6🧵 It was around this time last year that I was given this chance to talk about the thing that means the most to be on what is a huge national platform (thank you RTE and thank you Tommy Tiernan and team)

Well that felt good. Happy New Year everyone ! 🥳

Lots of Little Auks moving at the weekend, I saw two in transitional plumage (the rest were in winter plumage as you might expect). The transitional birds appeared more hooded with pale throats and one had a very small white patch behind the eye. #NEBirding

Back to Beadnell Point today. There was only a handful of Little Auks but that doesn't matter, it's just nice sitting out there and watching stuff flying by ! #NEBirding

Overnight we reached 30k signatures on our petition! Tomorrow the the grouse shooting season will close for the year. Wouldn't it be good if it never opened again? Help us reach 100k and get a debate. Please sign and share: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

Went back to Beadnell Point this afternoon. Still a few Little Auks moving with 45 past (all heading north) between 13:45 and 15:15. #NEBirding #Northumberland

Strong northerlies today = some more Little Auks ! 98 came wanging past Beadnell Point this afternoon between 13:30 and 15:00. Never get tired of seeing these incredible little birds. #NEBirding #Northumberland

Ten thousand 🙏 to everyone who has signed our petition to ban driven grouse shooting! The Govt will now have to respond. But we're not finished yet - we want a parliamentary debate and for that we need 100,000 signatures. Can you help us reach our target? petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

I've seen this film and it is superb, the best thing I've seen in a long time in fact, just beautiful. A 'must see' if you haven't already. @iolowilliams.bsky.social @markavery.bsky.social @ruthtingay.bsky.social @chrisgpackham.bsky.social @paulpowlesland.bsky.social you need to see it !

Roy was a legend, he played a BIG part in my life, the best boss I ever had and a great friend. His legacy lives on in so many places.
