I question the accuracy of this site (which does not give references). Since 2022, the mass balance of the Antarctic ice sheet has been net positive, not acceleratingly negative as from 2010-2020. See scitechdaily.com/antarcticas-..., orig paper at link.springer.com/article/10.1...

I think it largely began with Vannevar Bush (director of OSRD during WWII) and his seminal report "Science, The Endless Frontier," advocating for federal investment in basic scientific research, which led to creation of the NSF. He's a key figure missing from this article.

The only solution is for the environment to continually fix those bugs and guard against them. That means updating regulations and laws, the media calling out these bugs, education, protests, and cultural change.

I agree. I think all this bluster about nukes and monster data centers was always just a stopgap til the next (obvious) innovation (& scary climate impacts), so yeah anyone who believed that would have inflated ideas about NVDA price. But long term it's good for the AI industry IMHO.

True, for the most part -- but certain tipping points will cause continuing/accelerating effects (permafrost, AMOC, Thwaites etc.) Overall I agree 100% though. Every 0.1° helps!

Or better yet, avoid video-based news with its emotionally manipulative music beds and shiny anchors and chyrons, and actually *READ* news articles. From reputable sources like newspapers.

As a third possibility (beyond cancellations/bankruptcies), is it also possible insurance companies will raise rates to reflect actual forward climate-related risk? Or are their rates capped?
