Basically our winter sea temp is Brid in summer.
comment in response to post
I know I'm from Yorkshire! The water temps are currently around 17⁰C which is as cold as the sea gets here in winter.

I skipped my sea swim today. I did venture out in the cold (for Taiwan) 15⁰C air temps though.

I was thinking, "Do these stop you smelling the drains."

The water felt warm relative to the air. It was about 17-18⁰C in the water

Possibly posting from the other side.

Interestingly the last Japanese soldier to surrender in the war wasn't Japanese. He was Indigenous Taiwanese as Taiwan was under Japanese occupation at that time. He had a tough time as there'd been huge changes like Mandarin now been the main language in Taiwan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teruo_N...

I spent a decade living on the Belgian border. I definitely know what good beer is 😛
comment in response to post
I occasionally do. I've had some real food craft beers from the US.

He's also going to impose a 100% tariff on semiconductors and pharmaceuticals from Taiwan. That's going to really screw over your tech sector.

To make them viable in Keelung they'd have to make a lot of changes. That would be a good thing but I can't see it happening. No way would I ride a bike around Keelung.

We decided to use YouBike a couple of weeks ago. The first station we tried at Mudan had no bikes, so we decided to walk the first part of our planned route and then use YouBike for the last part. The second station we tried only had one bike. We'd have probably had more luck earlier in the day.

That sounds like I'm saying the bus not arriving 🤣
comment in response to post
That sounds like a group for me.
comment in response to post
I don't really use the bus now since getting the scooter.
comment in response to post
Yes the bus not topping up is annoying but convenience stores and train stations etc do.
comment in response to post
I just use my credit card so never have to think about topping it up as it does it automatically.
comment in response to post
It is for international travellers. I use my credit card for public transport here though as it has easy card functionality. It also automatically tops up in 500nt amounts.
comment in response to post
That makes sense as it will act like a normal SIM card.

Interesting. My Fairphone which came from FareasTone definitely has Esim function as I've used it a couple of times.
comment in response to post
Can you elaborate on the phones bought in Taiwan not having Esim function? It's built into the mother board on most modern phones. I've used my Taiwan bought phone with Esim before. My phone came on a contract from FarEasTone.

Absolute nothing in Keelung.

It's been great so far. But concerned about how the crypto bro investors may try and monetise it though.

As usual got an alert with no quake 🤣

His birthday was 15th Jan, wasn't it?
comment in response to post
We wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the alert.

We are on the 4th floor, I certainly used to feel more when we lived on the 9th floor. Geography probably plays a role, I feel many from the east coast which people in Taipei don't feel. This one was more south west though.
