Note: nothing wrong with it being a power user tool, but advertising it as a digital solution is a bit of a noob trap if you don't have the rules mastered.

I think this is the real barrier. I want to use Mega Mek to learn as it allows me to iterate faster; instead, it's a tool for power users. If the licensing wasn't so screwy, this could be a knock out product for more casual players such as myself

If I had unlimited money, fixing BATTLETECH licensing would be top of my list

That said, I love the mech lab. There're some QOL things I'd like to see, but it's functional enough that I can figure my way through it

Some of it is also just BattleTech rules being very crunchy or me just not understanding, such as setting up a campaign or merc unit.

The absolute beast of a learning curve. Admittedly it's been a while, so improvements may have been made, but overall new user experience is overwhelming and it takes a lot of trial and error to figure out why something won't work (walking backwards down a hill)

I really want to like MegaMek, but I just can't get into it; however, I have made, mad respect for the devs. That kind of work is NOT easy

5 - I started with I think MechWarrior 3, then got hooked with MechCommander. HBS got me into tabletop

Thankfully everyone is fine. Checked on the neighbors and they're ok too. Biggest adventure was tracking down our trash can 😆

More severe winds #txwx
Apologies for not holding still, it was intense. Another video I can't upload probably had 70+ mph winds captured in it

I love the sense of scale those give. Mechs are big, but not titanic, and very scary if you're on the receiving end

I showed this to my daughter and asked her what mech it was and she replied, "Jackhammer?"
So we're going to make a homebrew 50 tonner later today 😆

I still will sit down and watch the MC1 intro from time to time. Is it cheesy? Oh yeah. Is it glorious and captures the setting well? Definitely.

They painted these when they were, I don't know, 6 or 7, and really wanted another shot at it. Will post results when they're done!

They have been wanting to improve their skills, so we're going to repaint these in Ghost Bear Silver Root Keshik colors once I have the time to finish pulling all the paint off

It's OK to not like a finished product and still support creative types. Lots of creative content isn't great, but that doesn't invalidate the effort and learning that went into making it.

Absolutely. I struggle to remember the details of what I did last week, much less years ago

Ghost Bear was a nice step up from Smoke Jag. Looking forward to their next DLC!

My experience is they just...fall off. I didn't see any damage to the head when they latched on, but they definitely pull aggro

That's a ringing endorsement if I've ever heard one

I've also really enjoyed having the elementals, but I have to ask - what do they actually DO? It seems like they fly up to a cockpit, bang on it a couple of times, and then jump off. Am I missing something?
