*makes note of dates for when we get to that episode so I can look clever*

No, you're right there. I'd be centuries off but I'd be beyond 'when my grandparents were alive'.

It's Victorian or bust for me tbh, unless it relates to the textile industry (which was 85% of my history GCSE due to being Lancastrian)

Yeah we never get that low, it's just usually wet. The weather is pretty similar to the UK.

Come visit! February in Vancouver is...erm...lovely? Bring your wellies lol.

Oh no! Trip to Canada to rectify it!

Omg I was trying to remember the name of Verify just yesterday so I could look up if the next book was out! Ordered!

It's beautiful! I actually went in for a duck candle holder, but they'd sold out so I got the plug in instead.

Right?! My flabber was utterly ghasted. I was walking out of the theatre just muttering over and over "how rude can you be? It's so rude." I'd get it more if she'd been completely detached, but she clearly enjoyed it! And she was just looking up directions, not checking messages or anything urgent!

I'm normally pretty good at darts! Today, God knows why, I managed to do this, and *also* break off a flight!

Have you ever seen an American asking what they should pack for the UK? They *always* get told to buy massive packs of ibuprofen because "you can only get small packs there". Americans are very drug focused, it's bizarre.

Ugh, I get my prescription meds like this every month. 30 tablets, bottle big enough to hold the sun.

I love how people are like "make your own bread, it's so much cheaper!" Not when you eat the whole loaf in one go, Doris. Shut up.

I think so. A lot more people are probably willing to take a punt if they aren't paying for it.

That's less exciting, though still pleasing.

I'm sorry, a BOX of sparkling wine?! I need to know more of this magic item.

I'm so confused by the response to this movie. I keep seeing articles saying it's bombed and nobody likes it, but everyone I see who actually watched it thought it was great!

Your music news constantly makes me feel young again lol.

Whaaaat?? Monday Morning 5:19 is a BOP.

Looks great!

Pretty much, though it's more of a hot cross bun vibe. www.cbc.ca/life/greatca...

We have a special bread for Epiphany that has a plastic baby Jesus in it, and whoever gets the baby has to host Candlemas and make tamales. It's a whole thing (that gets rigged in our house as we're the only ones in the family that make our own tamales).

Thank you. I lost all feeling in my fingers hot gluing them lol.

Oh we absolutely do Candlemas - Mexican family, super-catholic innit. That's a good shout actually, we always do tamales for it and have people over.

Oh, and the music! It's perfect. You might have inspired a rewatch.

Such a good finale. I watched as it came out and I still think about it on a regular basis.

That's not really true. The rightwing extremism is creeping in here too. We can't be complacent and smug resting on our liberal laurels when there are literally people out there waving swastikas.

Thank you!

This really made me laugh! Washing up liquid on it?
comment in response to post
Yeah, considering it's not really a thing here it's an odd marketing strategy.

No, I'm fine with that one. It still recognises Burns and resembles a Burns Night supper. This was a completely standalone thing they'd slapped a Burns Night tag on to shift whisky.

It's more that the vibe feels very different here than twitter and threads, even with curated lists. It's much more serious, and I use social media for the whimsy.
