. @uniteucu.bsky.social's dispute needs to be resolved. It needs to be resolved bc Congress voted for @ucu.org.uk leadership to do so. It needs to be resolved bc it's the right thing to do. It needs to be revolved bc not resolving it makes things harder for branches in dispute. Solidarity!

Good article from ACR. I particularly like this: "Solidarity is not charity, nor is it merely looking after one’s own. Solidarity is an aspirational and universal bond of shared hope that recognises that oppression – all oppression – is a barrier to a more liberated world. " 1/2

When, some months ago,  we first posted our members’ testimonies - lived experiences of working for UCU - our employer’s only response was a demand they be removed. No contrition, shame or concern for their staff: just an anger we’d shared them. #UniteVoices uniteucu.wordpress.com/campaign-cam...

📣 May Day Rally 📣 We remain on strike. With our employer continuing to refuse to meet for talks, join our strike rally on Thursday 1 May, 12-1pm outside UCU head office, Carlow Street, London. All welcome to show your support for making UCU a safe & professional workplace. #ThriveNotSurvive

New op-ed from @carloucu.bsky.social on what a sustainable future for the University of Dundee would actually look like, not what our 'management' has tried to impose after 4 months of seemingly doing nothing. www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/opinion/5...

most of these TERF women's problem is their terrible Gen X husband who has literally never operated a hoover in their lives. however being the weak brained they are blaming trans women for this???

I can't believe that some of the UK media is still trying to say "The Supreme Court ruling isn't a victory for either side" when the cis supremacists are smoking cigars and popping champagne and we are attending mass protests. It's such a brazen lie

Imagine using your column in a national newspaper to whine about losing all your friends

Easter weekend saw tens of thousands of people take to the streets across Britain to oppose the Supreme Court’s attack on trans people. revsoc21.uk/2025/04/20/h...

Inflated executive pay has essentially been stolen from other staff and students.

Trans people elicit support in numbers the GCs can only dream of. Their support is all from the elite - media, politicians, institutions, not the people - and that is why they will - WILL - lose.

Thousands show solidarity at #TransRightsAreHumanRights Demo in Parliament Square.

There isn't a story on the BBC News site about today's trans rights rally at Parliament Square where it's estimated 20k attended. But they did have a story last week about the Let Women Speak transphobe rally in Bristol where 100 people attended.

For everyone who was marching today and everyone we were marching for youtu.be/mzU7aIk1dGI?... #TransRightsAreHumanRights

NEW: Thousands of trans rights protesters have taken to the streets of Edinburgh following the recent Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of a woman 🗣️ 'Trans rights are human rights'

Numbers are huge at the trans rights march and demo in Edinburgh. Good to see loads of @ucu.org.uk comrades here.

Sorry but I just don't feel comfortable sharing public toilets with transphobes. At any moment they could just demand to have a look at my gennies. The law should protect women's spaces from these creeps.

Reading back over Labour's 2024 Manifesto. It has done none of this - but worse than that it has allowed the institutions that are supposed to protect trans people to continue to attack them: the EHRC, the OfS, the NHS. What a betrayal.

As it should be, a growing list of trade unions are releasing unequivocal statements of support for trans people in the face of the SC ruling. Trade unions are built on solidarity and we will always stand against oppression. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

16 protests so far planned for this weekent in support of trans rights whatthetrans.com/compilation-...

UCU stands with trans people, today and every day. The Supreme Court ruling is not just wrong, it’s dangerous. We will never stop fighting for trans rights and equality. #TransRightsAreHumanRights #Solidarity

Really pleased to see @ucu.org.uk on this and will be sending solidarity from Edinburgh where there will also be a march.

If you suggest a CEO should take an £8K pay cut, they will call you a communist. If you suggest a binman should *not* take an £8K pay cut, they will also call you a communist. Make it make sense 🤷‍♂️

Supreme Court attacks trans people but the fight for liberation goes on: revsoc21.uk/2025/04/16/s...

Millionaire-backed astroturf group wins in court. One law for the rich and another for the poor.

Having excluded all trans people from proceedings before it, the Supreme Court decides in favour of For Some Women Scotland.

I have one year of data regarding articles on trans people in the Mail, Times, Telegraph and Guardian/Observer. In 365 days, they have printed a combined 1,075 articles, nearly all attacks. A more detailed post will be up on the Trans Agenda later this week, so be sure to subscribe hleehurley.com

Off to offer my solidarity to @uniteucu.bsky.social members in Glasgow this morning. It’s time the dispute with @ucu.org.uk was settled. Workers deserve so much better than this uniteucu.wordpress.com/dispute-over... #SettleTheDispute

Out-of-office We are not currently at work due to taking part in escalating strike action called by Unite, the trade union for UCU staff, over our Campaign for a Safe & Professional Workplace Culture. Our strikes this week run for 3 days from 14 to 16 April. #UniteVoices

It absolutely *is* absurd, but part of the underlying issue here is that those pushing this theory are doing so because they see "academic freedom" as not being just different from, but *superseding* free speech. This is at least partially about silencing *student criticism of their lecturers*.

The Scottish Government taskforce will only have an advisory role. What’s left of UEG are still calling all the shots. Seems like the taskforce should be renamed! www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/politics/...
