I wrapped mine totally in self amalgamating tape, two years on it's still good.

My shack computer is Ubuntu Linux with FLrig, FLdigi, WSJT-X, Gpredict, QSSTV, Thunderbird and Firefox, but I am very much into the esoteric computing.

I am still waiting for mine, the post in London clearly way worse than Scotland.

I can play the Morsel game at WPM, a QSO is a different matter ...

My first satellite QSO, I was waving a Moxon at the sky, with an HT at 1 watt. It all seemed so improbable.

I'd like better versions 6 and 10, last chance tonight. If the weather was better I'd go portable, but not in snow and sub zero temperatures.

This is my QFH, works well but I am poorly located at home QTH, so usually I go portable on high ground.

There is very little difference in cost, DIY or pre-built. I made mine because I could and I like making stuff. Time is precious, you can't put a price on it.

Not the high strength threadlock, unless you never want to take it apart, medium strength is my suggestion.

For the last event I was out portable on the top of a hill with a Yagi and adjusting for Doppler, this time it's an omni and a wide bandwidth unattended plus I am surrounded by hills and buildings. I am pleased to have received anything.

Don't be dismissive of the low elevation passes, sometimes they work out better than the high elevation passes.

I've had Ubuntu as my shack OS for some years. I am curious, what software are you unable to replace to your satisfaction?
