So the far-right AfD is kept out of power, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief, but the BBC’s Today Programme spins it as “Germany has lurched to to the right”. These kind of headlines only empower the extremists. Why does UK media do this?

MUM: Let’s call him Ian DAD: I prefer Greg MUM: Ian DAD: Greg MUM: Ian! DAD: Greg! MUM: Give me an I! Give me an A! Give me an N! Ian! DAD: Greg, Greg, Greg! Oi, oi, oi! MUM: What do we want? Ian! When do we want it? Now! DAD: Let’s go Greggg! Let’s go! Let’s go Greggg! Let’s go! (Gregorian chants)

Wish I were one of Elon's kids so I'd never see him again

My dad was tortured by the Gestapo for 4 days and thrown in a concentration camp for being in the Norwegian Resistance. Growing up, he would tell me things he learned in the Resistance. I thought, I'm never going to need this stuff. Here's some of those things #Thread

This is a word woodworkers use sometimes. When the grain shimmers as you turn an object in your hands? That's chatoyancy, baby!

3 of my long, thin 'sun' series of paintings. Painted on Italian hand made paper which is - I confess - a bit of a nightmare to paint on. Very unforgiving and disintegrates if you try to correct your drawing with a rubber. But I loved how they turned out.

History: “Eventually the incompetent fascists invariably lose power and then society recovers in a new and stronger way” Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??” History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”

Trump has now completely humiliated his apologists in the U.K. but not one of them will be honest enough to admit it.

A thing I wish I could teach people is that the vast majority of very rich people are deeply stupid. They did not get where they are because of ingenuity or talent. They got there because of compound interest on hereditary wealth and being tax cheats.

🚨 WHAT (and I can’t stress this enough) THE F#%K… The Trump administration is pressuring Romania to lift restrictions on the Tate brothers. ⬇️ www.ft.com/content/3f95...

I am the only one who sees “patriotic” Farage’s support of the enemies of Britain like Putin and Trump and wonders a bit about his “patriotism”?

I believe they're now called Wankpanzers?

not a new observation but Elon Musk genuinely isn't very bright, genuinely has no idea how most things work, and his entire supergenius engineer persona is a tech press-enabled mythology (they've never been held accountable for)

Super great that one of the major funding bodies that supports my physics research is now officially in opposition to me being the one to do it.

Imagine if the UK press were as quick to expose Tory WhatsApp groups over the previous 14 years?

Facts are facts. This is a fact. It's not a feeling. It can be proved.

There are at least two hypotheses other than "immunity debt" for the surge in severe flu. Both involve letting a virus rip, calm-mongering, and normalizing infectious disease.

If you get bitten by a rabid animal— you can either trust the science about a virus with near 100% fatality (without treatment), or you can trust some rando on Twitter about the non-existence of viruses.

A blue tree, a real spider and a rabbit

Posting footage of deportations impresses no one. Reform voters don’t think it’s enough hatred and the rest of us turn away from yet more performative cruelty. The Labour vote disintegrates. If Labour can’t decide who it should be talking and listening to, then it ends up without an audience.

Before Twitter went insane, it had a good run, including on the "foreigners gaze into Poland, and Poland gazes back" front.

Have I missed Kraftwerk live again?

More of this.

The bit in the quote post about high levels of TB in the ’80s & ’90s was because of the HIV/AIDS epidemic destroying immune systems. Covid infections temporarily dysregulate immune systems. We’re ill more often unless we protect ourselves from covid. With long covid, sometimes it’s not temporary.

Have we tried getting people infected with more viruses and letting billionaires get even richer? Maybe that would work. /s

Yep. Not only Dr. Bari and others, but even an (almost-)always wrong minimizer said this would be an indication of immune damage back in 2022 (trying to say there wasn't evidence if immune damage then, of course, but here we are now).

Oh hello. Another one eh?

uh oh....

The Abyssal fish should swim up more often, it looks like it's having a lovely time

It’s dreary here in DC, but Warrior Punk AF™ is cheering me up a bit. Is that snow or peanut dust? (It’s peanut dust. More in the alt-text.) #sqrlpix

We need to call out the blatant lie being pushed by the Trump administration—that Elon’s staffers have only “read-only” access. It has been confirmed across departments that they have “administrative” access to computer systems.

Hell yeah. Hold the line. This is what we need people to do. Slow things down, don’t comply in advance so the courts have time to stop them. It’s starting to work.

Evidence on a 9 years old's gender. What would that mean in practice? Say it with your full chest.

It's #buyastrangerabook day! Now then, @deadgoodlegacies.bsky.social has sent me £10.01 to buy someone a book with. So, if there's a paperback you've had your eye on, let us know! UK only

Wait. What if it's not lockdowns from 5 years ago and a lack of infections causing "immunity debt", but actually repeated infection with a virus with known immunological, cardiovascular, neurological, and many other effects?!?

🧵 Viruses can affect neurodevelopment in children. HIV transmitted in utero & early infancy is an example. Lockdowns as the reason are starting to be questioned but parenting is blamed. I wish we were curious enough to also consider Covid exposure too. But it might be too scary to contemplate.

Remember 3 years ago when they said 10% of people had Long Covid… And a year and a half ago they said 20% of people have Long Covid… Now up to 35% of people may have Long Covid… Are you going to start masking again or do you want to make it into the 45% of people with Long Covid stat next year? 😷

Remember that time the USA was under a cyber attack from the White House? And people rushed to save crucial scientific, educational, historical, arts, public health, and disaster preparedness information in multiple languages on the Wayback Machine web archive? That time is now. Go! web.archive.org
