Many products sold in the U.S. are made in El Salvador. In response to the El Salvador president’s statements today, we’re calling for an immediate boycott of all Salvadoran-made goods. Please help by listing any products or brands made in El Salvador in the comments below.

JKR funded the campaign group behind all this btw. This is why we beg you to stop engaging with Harry Potter media.

"The Roberts Court will now have to decide whether to side with the Constitution or with a lawless president asserting the power to disappear people at will. This is not a power that any person, much less an American president, is meant to have." www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Love dogs? Need catharsis? This is for you.

Colossal’s bungled wolf announcement isn’t a conservation win. It’s a sad reminder of how the offensively rich want to foist their vision of the future on everyone. My latest for @slate.com

This international student is incredibly brave for going on the record about his visa suddenly being revoked, including how he has one semester left and his mom has terminal cancer: www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/n...

This made my day. I love the book series by @marthawells.com and the show looks incredible.

“I see protest as a genuine means of encouraging someone to feel the inconsistencies, the horror, of the lives we are living. Social protest is to say that we do not have to live this way." — Audre Lorde

I mean I’ll try, I’m most of the way through my second brandy old fashioned and it’s been a while since I was actively engaged in the scholarship But basically, re: “successful social movements are built on cringe”: the two key ideas are emotion and affect (🧵)

Not all “Hands Off” events were in-person. I attended two virtual events centering chronically ill and disabled people for @motherjones.com, who are terrified about attacks to Medicaid, Section 504, research funding, education and more. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Nice turn out (badly captured by my photo) in Longmont, CO. We were two blocks away from the central protest. #HandsOff

disturbing but essential reading from the always phenomenal @nikkimcr.bsky.social

I enjoyed this whole thread.

Senators Chuck Grassley (R) and Maria Cantwell (D) just introduced a bill to reassert Congress’s power over tariffs. —President must notify Congress on new tariffs within 48 hours of imposition. —Congress must approve them within 60 days or they expire. www.cantwell.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

TOMORROW: There’s a crucial election in Wisconsin that will impact the midterms and 2028. Help us GOTV for Susan Crawford and secure the liberal majority on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. For WI residents: indivisibleproject.formstack.com/forms/2025_s... For everybody: www.mobilize.us/indivisible/...

Leah and I released the new Indivisible doc, "A Practical Guide to Democracy on the Brink," after spending the post-election weekend in a cabin feverishly writing, editing, and rewriting. TNR describes it here as "refreshingly blunt." I think it holds up pretty well 5-ish months later.

I have been hearing from people that they have been having issues accessing their Social Security accounts. INSTEAD of going to a branch which may be hundreds or 1Ks+ of miles away from you, call your members of Congress. They have constituent services that will help you regain access. Please share!

Action works!

We have had nearly two decades of panic about Free Speech on Campus and not a single case, not even the ones they made up, were as bad as what's happening now

None of the Colorado legislators are on this. Reach out!

"last week, the Department of Justice, which is charged with enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), began to rescind key guidance, justifying the move by suggesting that accessibility is the reason for cost-of-living increases." an enraging but important read by @novicsara.bsky.social:

The ACA was cool because it allowed ppl w/ #disability to leave abusive relationships. It also gave us the chance to go after new jobs without losing pre-ex conditions protections. #HappyBirthdayACA

Glad for this change but talk about a horrible thing that I didn’t know was happening.

Everyone’s heart needs to be wrenched—this will do the trick.

Three Wins Today (March 14, 2025) + Three Bonus Wins because I think we all really need it today 1. The North Dakota Senate, which only has five Democrats voted 16 to 31 against the resolution to send Reversing gay marriage back to Scotus 1/

*Jon Ossoff* just announced he's voting no. You think that happened out of nowhere? CALL YOUR SENATORS. 👇

Got a printer? You can start fighting fascism. Here's a thread of things you can print and distribute. 👇 I promise doing something--even this--feels better than raging silently. And maybe it'll show you that standing up is possible and open you up to more things you can do.

"The U.S. Department of State is threatening trans people’s ability to obtain accurate passports—creating dangerous barriers for travel, identification, and basic rights. We need your voice to stop these harmful changes!" - transequality.org/news/freedom...? - This is a small ask

Oh to be a little Tardigrade scratching its back on a bubble. 🫧🐻🧪

Can we just unplug that bullshit before it kills us?

Hey: if you're an REI member you get to vote on the board of directors. There are three candidates on the ballot, all of whom oppose workers rights, and REI has blocked pro-worker candidates. When you get your email ballot, vote "withhold" on all three to support workers.

Donald Trump is treating the destruction of a democracy as a political show — throwing Ukraine to the wolves and doing a favor for Putin. It's shameful and dangerous. I've been to Ukraine, as have many Senate Republicans. I hope they speak up. Millions of lives are at stake.

In the piece below, I talk a lot about mass messaging (posters, stickers, etc.) to keep the focus not just on enmity towards Trump and Musk but the impact of their actions. In case it's helpful, I put together some examples! Not perfect, but they get the job done (feel free to steal/share)

Substack is using this myth of free speech absolutism to dismiss concerns about platforming and monetizing Nazi speech. Substack is privately owned. They could moderate racist and anti-trans content. THEY HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO TIME AND AGAIN because their business model is literally not sustainable.

When I feel hopelessness stirring I find at least one way to take concrete action. The easiest is to donate to the orgs that have systems in place to help those directly affected by this idiotic regime. This week I donated to Envision You and invite you to join me. www.envision-you.org

If you know me, you know what I think of gen AI - it can automate some tasks and write decent code but can only ultimately rephrase the Internet. Yesterday I was (lazy/time-poor) so I tried Cerebras' Llama-3.1 interface. I think this is quite illustrative of gen AI chain-of-thought 🧵

Really important lesson here. Executive Orders are not laws. Keep on doing what you think is right. Find others who will do the same. It's easier if you're working together. And don't forget, even though it's slow, people are fighting these in the courts and the streets.
