Number for Japan is obviously skewed by post-Fukushima shutdowns if fairly viable plants. Could rise quickly as they are being restarted.

Re Pokrovsk much of the significance is economic. It supplies the unusual type of coking coal needed for Ukrainian steel mills. Btw Australia is one of the few countries that makes the same type of coking coal. That is why the Ukrainians ask us to send it. www.bloomberg.com/opinion/feat...

My only expertise is I speak Russian. Sources such as the Meduza are saying that Pokrovsk is surrounded on three sides now. This was not true in August last year. Russians can bomb the access roads. This makes it much harder to supply. This seems to be confirmed by the latest ISW map.

I would be delighted if you were right but a. The advance since August is real. B. the Russian strategy is to outflank the city. They are now to the west and south of it.

The Russians have moved a lot closer to Pokrovsk in the last four months since breakthrough at Novohrodotivka in September. I agree movement is slow but Ukrainians are under serious pressure (see fall of Toretsk yesterday.)

I cannot understand your comment. Do you seriously believe that ICAC is scared of investigating NSW premiers? I can think of a couple of counter examples.

Churchill and Attlee didn’t choose? They sold out the Poles and Arabs and others in the Cold War.

I love Georgian: khachapuri, badrijani, khinkali, satsivi, Lobio. And the wine. And the fresh herbs on the table.

This raises the question of why Nevzlin might have wanted to support Volkov. I know that Volkov was in 22 and 23 actively lobbying western governments to drop sanctions against “anti-kremlin” oligarchs. Maybe something to do with that?

It is also strange because many Jews hate the idea that they have anything in common with Christians.

is she saying Israel is playing on Holocaust guilt in the west to justify excessive violence and potentially ethnic cleansing in Gaza? I agree with that.
