Despises racism, social injustice, right wing populism, ‘neoliberal trickledown’ & inequality. The world has enough money, but greed is stopping us from solving global/national/local issues. ‘Woke’ is a good thing. #UCU FE union branch chair. #FBPE

Good to see that the country of Canada beat Canada’s 11th province in the ice hockey last night.

Education: You can’t improve outcomes for children unless the staff are supported and looked after better than they currently are. End of.

If the USA is going to become a meritocracy then I assume the top jobs will be going disproportionately to Asians, women and black women, because they all outperform their comparative peers Somehow, I’m not sure this is the ‘meritocratic’ intention of the white Conservative billionaires though?

#Teachers get paid for 5 days work a week, but work for 6+ days every week. They either need to be paid like it’s 6+ days of work, or only work like it’s 5 days pay, because the current format is unsustainable.

Investment in public services (education, police, youth centres, social services, community projects, public leisure facilities, infrastructure improvements, job support, work training, adult ed, health etc etc) has to increase. This is essential to improving the country #TaxTheRich to pay for it

“Trump is anti establishment” “he’ll take on the corporations” NO He IS the establishment AND will transfer even more power to corporations (as long as they back him). This will accelerate American plutocracy A corporate take over is the inevitable neoliberal outcome that was predicted by many

Powerful men with fragile egos who use spite to get their own back… …are currently running the most powerful country in the world.

I’m loving all the trickledown that we are all experiencing.

Oligarchy (noun): A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

Word of the day is ‘catch-fart’ (17th century: an obsequious individual who will always follow the political wind.

Add this to the hundreds of other reasons why there’s a recruitment and retention crisis in education. The cognitive overload of information on to staff is unnecessary. #teacher #education @teachertapp.bsky.social

Western, billionaire owned, social media algorithms have been used to suppress information and to spread selective disinformation. There’s a reason why the US want TikTok to be owned by an American billionaire. Are we now just an oligarchy?

So many “British patriots” who campaigned for our “sovereignty”, are now very keen to see us taken over by Trump, Musk and the rest of the American oligarchy. You couldn’t make it up

AI is NOT going to solve the recruitment and retention crisis in #education That’s just tinkering around the edges with a bit of tech. What teachers need are smaller classes and fewer contact hours.

Banning apps. Banning books. Banning websites. Censoring satire/cartoons. Withholding funds to those who haven’t voted for you. Targeting minority groups. Promoting religious nationalism. That’s what fascists do.

America is run by the rich, for the rich. They own the assets, they buy politicians, they determine policy, they are above the law. By definition, that makes it an #Oligarchy

Socialists don’t want “free stuff”. They just want a fair wage for their work and for the wealth that they produce. They don’t want that wealth to be hoarded in the pockets of a few people.

Too many people have swallowed the belief that what is good for the wealthy is actually good for them as well. This is one, of many, of the awful legacies of Thatcher and Reagan.

The school bully always gets ‘fan boys’ fawning all over them, despite them being inherently bad people… …which is the same situation we have with billionaires/tech bros/CEOs etc Powerful people (especially men), no matter how evil they are, will always attract a cult like following.

Bluesky is so much better than Twitter. That's the post.

ANTHROPEGENIC CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL! (Pass it on)

Labour have 14 years of Tory mismanagement, corruption, culture wars and a broken country to undo…. …and too many people seem to think that should have been achieved after only 6 months.

What a surprise. He doesn’t actually care. It’s all just used as a divisive game for personal political gain. It’s what populists do.

We shouldn’t criticise children for believing in Father Christmas, the Easter bunny, or the tooth fairy when there are grown adults who still believe that trickledown works.

“The left are too easily offended”… …says the person who is offended by: Rainbows Foreign languages spoken Saying “happy holidays” Pronouns Same sex couples Drag queens Bud light Books Migrants The “wrong” religion Vegans Net zero Environmental campaigners Masks Vaccines The truth #hypocrisy

As a child, I took my son to football training, to rugby training, to athletics meets, to the tennis courts, to karate classes, to swimming lessons…. …and all Luke Littler’s dad did was take him to the pub!! I got it all wrong!! #darts

The world is heading for a corporate bro-ligarchy

Apparently, tax cuts for the rich are “essential for economic growth”. But tax cuts for the poor or higher wages are “unaffordable” and will “cause inflation”. The system is broken:

💯 #Facts

323 school shootings in 2024 and the #GOP political leaders give “thoughts and prayers” and not a single charge of terrorism. 1 CEO shot and they go in to meltdown and he’s charged with terrorism. Make it make sense?

If you put yourself on the side of the oppressed and against the oppressor, you’ll likely find yourself on the right side of history.

Sleep is literally the complete opposite of woke!

Exactly

When it comes to an election I ask myself the question, who would the… Racists, Homophobes, Transphobes, Climate change deniers, and Anti-vaxers etc vote for… …because that is then definitely NOT the party for me.
