"But reality was unwelcome in the Führer’s war room." Remember Baghdad Bob?

Wrong. It was a 2015 Model S, but please continue to make stuff up. There is no evidence that the incident I reporteed was arson. "In an interview with China's Xinmin Evening News, the car's owner said the 2015 Model S was not charging at the time of the fire but had been charged a few hours prior"

Yes, I remember an almost identical case in China. There was a security surveillance video showing how the car spontaneously burst into flames.

Right! The electric motor is much smaller and co-located on the rear axle. This photo was taken from the back. pimpmyev.com/blogs/speed-...

According to another report, there was 8 inches of water after the firefighters responded. They had to air out all the smoke, too.

"The White House confirmed that the new exemptions would not apply to the 20 per cent tariffs on all Chinese imports applied by Trump to respond to China’s role in fentanyl manufacturing." Whoa

"Only days earlier, the port had been a hive of activity, with ships rushing to load containers ahead of the tariff deadline. On April 7 and 8, nearly half the vessels docked at Shanghai’s Yangshan and Waigaoqiao terminals were bound for the U.S., racing against the clock."

"Shanghai’s bustling port came to an abrupt halt on Thursday, just one day after U.S. President Donald Trump’s punitive 125% tariffs on Chinese imports took effect — virtually wiping out shipments bound for the United States overnight."

A lot of that would apply to a stereotypical Bavarian, too. Except "ty vole" would morph into "Grüß Gott".

Exactly! I know some of these business owners firsthand. The only question is if the new electronics exemption or some future carveout will cover them or not.

"Italy, a fairly homogeneous society, became a recipient of hundreds of thousand migrants, altering the perceptions of threat to Italian citizens that have been successfully instrumentalized by political movements"

“Furniture producers in China have seen a complete halt in orders from U.S. importers, and we’re hearing the same across toys, apparel, footwear, and sports equipment” This is nuts. It will bankrupt a lot of companies.

Free speech applies only to him and no one else. Endless entitlement.

Thank you! I didn't catch that for some reason. Surprisingly difficult data to get.

I tried to find out how many of them Tesla was selling in China, but I couldn't get a concrete number. Can't be many. worldpopulationreview.com/country-rank...

Correct - Fremont only. These are legacy models. Shanghai makes Model 3s and Model Ys. Wikipedia has impressively detailed info on this. Beats referencing Electrek. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigafac...

"I moved in part to America because they told us it wasn’t like this here. I know now that nowhere is safe from authoritarian creep. A mediocre at his job border guard has the power to ruin my day but he will not intimidate me." What a read

Oh, awesome to hear! When I saw this on the street, I had to take a photo. Wonder if it was inspired by Maurizio Cattelan's work that was on the news.

“We are giving into this idea that other languages are not important, that studying the humanities is not really something that’s going to help us.” It's heartbreaking. In today's interconnected world, foreign language and cultural fluency are increasingly important.

💯 Hugely concerning. They also continue to revoke student visas, forcing international students to leave overnight for fear of being detained and deported. All in a flagrant violation of their constitutional rights.
