A question to the Bluesky consciousness, are the Democrats making an effort to recruit the various fired federal workers to run for office?

@hueyli.bsky.social is absolutely right. The closest historical analogue to what DOGE is doing to our government right now is the Cultural Revolution, from 1966 to 1976 in China. We’ve got a long, dark road ahead of us.

So why "quietly" then?

It cost two world wars and a great depression to teach 20th century Republicans why isolationism and protectionism were wrong. Let's hope that the education of 21st century Republicans will cost less - but it's already expensive enough.

The latest defense of the Trump tariffs is that the impending Trump recession will build character. What are a few months or years of unemployment compared to a glorious someday-soon future manufacturing hinges and knobs -or stitching t-shirts and athletic shoes?
