this is not a competent regime, just a malicious one, and it gets less competent as it goes along because the personalities involved are all showboats who drive each other and the few competent staff under them up a wall
they’re extremely bad at logistics and strategy overall

Speak for yourself. It would boost my morale immensely.

This can’t really be a question in 2025.
We know it’s because they like it this way. We know the score.

"You know what would save this place? If goofy 52-year-old Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle felt more at home here." Like what planet are you living on if you honestly believe that? *That* right there is a much bigger bubble to be in than the denizens of Bluesky are in.

This has been my feeling all along. They have a vision, but they are disorganized and stupid. As long as they continue to get ahead of their skis with no real plan or expertise, we stand a chance.
Having this instinct confirmed by @andreapitzer.bsky.social, who knows more than I do, gives me hope.

These kids aren't afraid of fake bullets. They've been faced with the threat of real ones since kindergarten.

Oh yeah. That mom/grandma tone is our superpower, honed through years and years of needing you to “put that down right now BECAUSE I SAID SO, young man!”

Militias are really bad in combat too, especially if they are doing violence for the joy of it rather than following orders
I expect the dudes in jeans will be worse than useless

Agree. Laying low when National Guard swarms the area and resuming protests once they’ve left feels like an extremely effective way of controlling the narrative and confounding any fascist enforcement.

Trump “did not seem angry… or concerned”
Uuugh. I hate that I know he did that feigned nonchalance, sleepy-eyed monotone Mafia boss voice that he does,
but I love that it means he is, in fact, angry and concerned.

He didn’t exactly like Elon.
He liked that the world’s richest man liked him.
But now that that’s done…

This is my memory as well. I was in college at the time, which meant late-night studying *and* raucous 80s partying. But I’d set my alarm for a Saturday morning “kids’” show.
It was somehow subversive and comforting at the same time, and you always felt like you were in on the joke.
