This video does such a good job saying what I have been trying to say about commercial AI. An AI can write a 10th grade lit essay, but the point of an essay assignment is not to produce an essay. The essay teaches critical thinking, research skills, etc. The effort is the point.

This is a lesson in the value of litigation (which @chrisgeidner.bsky.social laid out). One of the FIRST lawsuits filed against OPM (by @nationalsecuritylaw.org) argued that OPM had not done the proper Privacy Impact Asssessment. So they did this. Now it'll fuck up the exploitation of this email.

Sounding familiar, given recent events.

As Elon demands justifications from all federal workers (including many who are not Executive Branch employees), remember that if he paid his taxes, it'd pay for 677K federal jobs.

The thing about the chaos tonight is that a lot of different parts of the government are pushing back on Musk. Very easy to imagine him having to pick between trying to fire an absurd, untenable number of people or backing down after having made a big threat and looking weak.

By accepting Trump’s anti-Black premise and regurgitating the narrative that equates anything Black as DEI, the NY Times has become part of the propaganda machine

That guy is Executive Director, Naval Sea Systems Command. He's basically the guy in charge of making sure the boats are good boats. And he has to send a frantic email out telling everybody to treat DOGE like a phishing attack.

Editor: You get those photos of that Mangione character's first court appearance? Photographer: Sure did boss, real fuckin sexy just like you asked. Editor: what

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

RE: latest wave of anti-trans laws/rules. Morality law often presumes to defend a "natural order" from human deviance. But a truly natural order needs no law because deviance is impossible. You don't need a ban on people flapping their arms and flying away because they just can't do that...

Its something worth being #transmemes

Incredible stuff in here: They ID'ed him, in part, by going to court hearings and watching him post

Microsoft going above-and-beyond to demonstrate its malignant presence in a creative hobby I love. It's really hard to express just how poisonous this ill-timed, ill-conceived nonsense is to the Xbox brand @xboxp3.bsky.social @xbox.com

Avowed combat, exploration, and conversations feel great, and I adore this setting. This is one of those games I think about playing while I'm doing other stuff during the day.

Media are missing this if they don't include it. Yes, Judge Chutkan just denied temporary restraining order in New Mexico v Musk. But judge signals plaintiffs have the better argument when this reaches the merits: That Elon Musk is exercising power in violation of Appointments Clause. ⬇️Key para⬇️

[shouting into the void] "Currency technically costing more to mint than its face value isn't inherently bad when the need is for its ongoing presence in circulation. Spending a penny doesn't mean the fucking penny disappears. Re-issues appear to cost more PER-UNIT because they're smaller batches."

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

This front page story in my local newspaper is written in the passive voice like the Social Security office just fell over or something, never mentions Doge once, never says the words musk or trump.

Summarizing Elon Musk's government takeover thus far in under 60 seconds:

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau uncovered $21 billion of cheating and returned it directly to Americans. That little agency is proof that we can make the government work for people. Trump and Musk want to take that away, but we won't stop fighting to protect it.

Department of Education FAFSA changes are open for public comment. The changes include requiring trans students to misgender themselves and removes the nonbinary option on forms. Note: comment period is 60 days, and comments are publicly visible. Form here: www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...

Hey, game teams, THIS is how you communicate "compiling shaders" for players. Stop assuming they'll know what it means, as most absolutely do not. Avowed, this is great.

People should know better than to share garbage posts that make them mad on here. Our entire social media experience is built around a feedback loop of base emotional manipulation, and some are out here smearing that nonsense on the walls so more people see it.

Any policy-reaction piece talking about the "anti-DEI" Executive Orders that doesn't characterize them outright as "pro-segregation hiring rules" isn't accurate to reality.

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

Here I was thinking it'd be a few more weeks until we got to "l'état, c'est moi."

This specific event probably isn't in your area, but keep your eyes open for similar opportunities nearby. Always check the promoter/group involved to be sure things seem legit, but there's a lot of causes out there that need your work.
