βThe ultimate moral test of any government is the way it treats three groups of its citizens. First, those in the dawn of life β our children. Second, those in the shadows of life β our needy, our sick, our handicapped. Third, those in the twilight of life β our elderly.β - Hubert Humphrey.

Mostly it can be isolating... I'll be honest, my disease mindfulness certainly makes it harder for me because crowds and being around people just feels stressful and un-fun, so I'm missing out on many opportunities to make friends, but it's not the easiest either way. I'm glad I moved with the fam!

I guess I can post this here... I wrote something up a while ago on pros and cons of life here which may be helpful. I have to break it into two posts here. π

It's really hard to make friends, which I already expected since I've made big moves before... But it's extra hard for some reason here

It's all about getting enough points on the point system.

I think perhaps this current government has made it a touch easier? But it was not so easy when we came. This person, especially if they're older than young 30s, will certainly need to have a work sponsorship, which also means they almost certainly have to have skills on the shortage list.

Guess that means we won't ever have a mice problem. He is also pretty good at catching flies. He has no bloody idea what to do with roaches though. π€£

Absolutely. I've noticed a lot of people in Aotearoa in particular have been super sheltered from the horrors in the world and don't respect some of the threats that exist out there. Like covid, because we had such an awesome response many people don't really realise how horrible it was elsewhere.

Oh no! That's when my dog usually saves me, she curls up to my back providing warmth so I can eschew blankets but still get some warmth and I slept for hours. Maybe a hot water bottle across your back with no blankets will be just the ticket?
I hope you feel better soon. π₯Ίπ

I'm kinda the same π«£ gangster stuff just doesn't appeal to me at all, but that said I did love LΓ©on: The Professional and there is some gangster stuff in there.

I can't handle stressful shows much these days, pretty much only watch wholesome stuff. The world is too stressful for me to voluntarily indulge in extra stress.

Perhaps because so many people I know have fallen victim to it. My sister's kid hasn't had any vaccines, my FREAKING SCIENTIST dad isn't into them now, so many friends.... I'm just so distraught about it. The people out there peddling dangerous lies about wellness are rotten.
