I teach a laboratory-based class so I started talking about how money works in a research lab, NIH/NSF grant review process, IDC cuts, mass firing, court rulings, etc. Most are shocked and appalled, but more importantly, most didn't even know it was happening.

After days of feeling like I'm drowning and just trying to stay above water, reading this article felt like finding my footing, being able to take some calming breaths, and refocus. It may or may not be 100% accurate, but it gave me a perspective that made sense, and with that, a semblance of calm.
