I didn’t even know there was new Leverage! This is great!

@ricardotranjan.bsky.social can you expand on what mechanisms were used to implement these controls? And how they got around pushback? Everyone today just stops at “housing is provincial”.
comment in response to post
The federal government intervened in the 40s and 70s, so it’s something that’s possible even if housing is generally a provincial responsibility.

I’m not even sure they give better visibility. When you’re driving in a city there’s streetlights everywhere. Definitely more efficient, but the headlights aren’t drawing that much power in any case. I just want to be able to see when a car is passing me

I hate driving at night now. Half the cars have blinding headlights.

The Revolution Party would nationalize food banks and grocery chains to ensure that all Canadians have access to healthy, nutritious food (and unhealthy, but delicious snacks) and prevent the price-gouging by the billionaire currently causing the affordability crisis.

“Millions of Canadians are food insecure, what do you say to those who accuse you of being out of touch for being able to have food go bad in your fridge” I take the accusations very seriously and will be launching an internal investigation in to what exactly went wrong in my fridge.

I don’t want to add to the stress but you’re not going to get a chance to vote him out in 4 years. This is a fascist take over of your government. Americans need to be in the streets for the next 4 years to even have the possibility of free and fair elections

Well I guess I missed some rad art in my time away from Magic

Maybe have snippets ready for embedding videos and music. And dumb CSS tricks for spinning Pikachu around. Kids don’t want a slick e-commerce site, they want Geocities.

Glad I can help. Your inevitable live-coding errors need to be fun challenges to overcome, not panic moments that are derailing your presentation. “Oh no! The computer isn’t doing what I want! What do you do when you have trouble with a computer?”

I TA’d a session with kids that age and they tried to teach Ruby the way you would do a university lecture and they were intensely bored. It has to be interactive and related to their interests. I’d ask the teacher for help. They’ll know best how to keep kids engaged.

Wix? I don’t think someone in grade 6 can make it very far in 90min. Maybe a guided session where you make a website with the kid’s suggestions? You want Pikachu on your website? Cool. You want a hundred Pikachus? Awesome, let me throw that in a loop.

I’ve really gotta get myself a post-apocalypse skill. I think the demand for software devs who like category theory might decline

Prolog melted my brain. My functional programming class in university did Lisp first and I thought it was so cool and I felt smart and then Prolog happened and I’d never been more confused

Ok, but AI CEOs is a pretty good idea. Why not eliminate the most expensive person on your payroll. Way easier to replace than an engineer or janitor.

It’s backwards! Well, the AC system was backwards. Big number good, small number bad is good design principle to have in a complicated game full of rules.

It doesn’t have anything to do with freedom, democracy, innovation, competition, or free markets. In most cases all of these things limit the ability of capitalists to extract profit from their property.

The concept and art are fantastic. The pun is *chef’s kiss*

In a First Past the Post system you inevitably end up with two parties after enough time and as long as there’s money in politics we’ll end up with two parties that only represent people with money. The only way to avoid it is electoral reform.
