Since I did the mistake of using it a few weeks ago (luckily nothing worked)

At some point LLMs will be the baseline to measure human "intelligence". Lazy people will be below it. Laziness is a thing that sneaks in silently, and it takes effort to leave it outside!

I'm starting a DuckDB newsletter, feel free to subscribe at learningduckdb.com

Recently I was speaking with a friend who develops with a well polished setup for small/medium projects. Postgres as database, Redis for session storage and another Redis as queue system. Not sure about session but for small projects why not everything with Postgres? 10 to 100 messages a day

Svelte starter pack Curated by me, many people I know from the Svelte community personally go.bsky.app/QEhPG3P

Having some fun building a toy llm with the help of an LLM. Conversing with the LLM as suggested by @antirez.bsky.social is very informative. LLM for learning purpose instead of using it to get shit done at work is even more interesting So far we built tokenizer, embedding, positional encoding.

I attended many conferences sometime as speaker, sometime as sponsor and I can tell you there are two kind of conferences. The dev oriented one where you don't need to do much. Get the ticket, go onstage if you need, checkin and so on. Then there are corporate/sales conferences... a nightmare

Not sure what I am doing wrong but in the last year I wrote projects with: Svelte, React, Golang, Rust, PHP. After ~13y I am far away from sleeping on top of one technology, apparently. I think there is the right technology for the right problem, not yet figured out for me

The dark side of what I think about when I code with the help of an LLM gianarb.it/blog/llm-rai...

As you know I use LLMs to get some of my tasks done. What makes me to think about this is the connection between the code and the value. We read everywhere that value and code are not or should not be related. But I get paid to write software so it is hard to avoid making connections

Ah! GitHub is down for me and their status page is still green! I am quicker than their alerts! Or maybe there is no alert for when "Gianluca see a unicorn instead of GitHub UI"

I don't know how much a frontend dev can get done in 3 days, but I bootstrapped a React app and Claude wrote 95% of the code. It is a pretty good PoC at least for my standard, it costed ~10$ I think. Hard to judge what is going on here.

I recently started a new project in React, and it looks like their scaffolding does not work? It is a dependency issue not a big deal but what is going on? 😕 this is why Next.js is a thing? o.O

I am not sure if this is the result of the turbulence the NixOS community lives into since forever but many of the packages I use are not working so great anymore. I am thinking about direnv being broken for me currently, OrcaSlicer stopped working properly. I am not complaining btw

I don't see enough meme with this one yet www.ilpost.it/2025/01/20/f...

Stay relevant is something I think about very often. I know many people that I think achieve a lot and each of them figured out its own way to it. Since it is an ongoing process I decided to write what I am thinking about gianarb.it/blog/stay-re...

Ok! Today is one of those days. I feel like I should stop using Flake or even NixOS all together 🤷‍♂️ I feel like I am done. I get what it does, cool. I will know how to use it if I will need it again

I can't remember the build/ci/cd system I read about a few months ago. It is opensource and I read about it because the founder wrote about their business pivoting for some reason.

How do you feel about being force to pay more for Google Workspace because of a feature you probably don't need and that it is probably not ready? Oh, making such feature useful will take time and will probably contribute to destroying the planet by a good factor 😅

Hey, if you're a Rust and/or embedded person, and you use the probe-rs toolkit (pretty much everyone does in embedded and Rust!), you'd be doing me a huge favor if you took a minute to fill out their survey and/or share internally or with people you know: forms.gle/FRtUwuFCCKgK...

Friends if you join IRC you get access to chats with many many many OSS projects without having to register a million accounts

Should I do my next PoC that will turn into an APP with Ruby on Rails? People keep saying it is the easiest way to do things since I was 10y old!
