I loved living in Toronto, the people were so fair-minded, conscientious & accepting but I thought that took their competitive edge off (explains the Leafs) and found that I could the Irish dog against them in sporting contests, punch down on their niceness

They should’ve done it like the Robbie Williams movie and have Keane portrayed by a pitbull (assuming dogs can bark in a Cork accent)

Assuming that they’re so stupidly lazy that they used an AI filter to look for anything that may be considered unacceptable for kid and included the word “pussy”

What is the Lions if not banter?
Without banter it’s just a group of large men in Birkenstock Bostons constantly going for coffee

Re: punditry, ignore anything coming from the Rugby Weekly crew- always Prem first (Care claimed again this week that it was “the best league in the world”) & they will generally push their players- Monye pushed for Feyi-Waboso to come in (obv not now)

Duhan should be fielding that over his head- NRL style- esp w his height as the smaller player would concede a penalty if he competes

Toulouse- great cover for N’tamack, when Ramos is away, Malia or Kinghorn can goalkick or Toulon w Jaminet *spits* kicking
comment in response to

Definitely Keenan- Kinghorn benefitting from playing in a dominant Toulouse side, there’d be a recency bias. BK poor v Ire in 6Ns as I recall (butchers linebreak/ pen adv for Conan try/ misses tackle Lowe try)- one game Farrell would’ve watched keenly

Was laughing as in the Glasgow semi, Dan Sheehan’s jersey had already lost part of the brand logo and subsequently on the socials I saw him mentioned in the “Castore ™️ Moment of the Match”
Awful shite quality

Wouldn’t mind but at least they could’ve used a vintage can rather than the contemporary one- neck shape & ring-pull and all

His salary is inflated by Ireland though, if he was on a Leinster contract he’d be on €450k like JGP- am sure his agent could get him better abroad but it’s in Ireland’s interests that he stays at Leinster- could argue that the IRFU send him to another province but could be counterproductive
comment in response to
post
Generally a reasonable chat, I think- odd!
comment in response to

Yeah, but they brought Porter through- his value increased playing for Leinster- all 6Ns teams have different structures, France have JiF etc. Do Leinster have to send him to Connacht and make Boyle no. 1? What happens when Boyle graduates to big bucks?
comment in response to
post
They don’t get that from the IRFU- the IRFU pay 70% (60% for 25/26) of the centrally contracted players’ wages- same as they do with Beirne in Munster and Aki/ Hansen in Connacht

I don’t believe they’re 12th but I do believe that they’re in the median of the teams listed- lot of money in the Top 14

www.premiershiprugby.com/salarycap
“For the 2024-25 Salary Cap Year, the level of the Salary Cap is £6,400,000 with the following credits and exclusions, which means that Clubs can spend at least £7.8m plus an Excluded Player Salary”
£7.8m = €9.1m
comment in response to
post
I think the circa €9.2m estimate is correct for Leinster; Top 14 has a salary cap of €10.7m; Prem Rugby’s, allowing for marque signings (remember Leicester apparently offered Jack €600k), is €9.1m so amongst the 40 clubs they’d prob be 10th on the list- not Yankee Stadium

And Ross & Cian (& Rob Russell etc.) are off the books, along with Jordie’s/ Ioane’s contract not being paid from June through November- that’ll cover Gus!
comment in response to
post
I never suggested that the Lions are paid like journeymen, I do know that Gus McCarthy is capped but also paid pennies- ST have multiple Non-French players (Leinster have 3- same as Munster); the notion that Leinster have a higher wage bill is ludicrous

Adding that Leinster can’t even pick RG ahead of Ryan & McCarthy if the latter are fit & available- doubt any other budget behemoths handicap themselves like that

Aim as good as Rory Scannell’s

When all are fit a couple of those ST “starters” ain’t making the 23- not many internationals not making the Leinster 23 when all fit (Larmour, Frawley, Gus), mostly Academy lads

You’re right! Fintan Gunne, James Culhane, Andrew Osborne et al absolutely swimming in cash whilst Chocobares, Ahki, Willis, Richie Arnold, Saitō etc. playing for peanuts in the south of France. The scales have been lifted- thank you!

Given he was injured from November through to the Spring it’s not surprising
comment in response to

Sighs…. Toulouse, for example, have back 3 stocks including Ramos, Kinghorn, Malia & Capuozzo… There is no way that Leinster’s budget is bigger. Not doing An Béal Bocht here, Leinster have cash but pedalling the line that this is their big advantage is ludicrous
