The tight-asses replying to this joke fall into two categories: "Don't you know they were the greatest generation who defeated nazis and made groundbreaking music" And "Don't you know that generation and all of their music was racist and sexist?"

I DO actually believe that if men were willing to dismantle the patriarchy what they will receive in return would be much greater than they lost. And I strongly suspect that whatever the imperial core loses by decentering itself and readjusting resources, what is gained by the world is much greater.

Only 2 other books have ever made me cry. 1st when I was 19, The House of Mirth: "And the word passed between them." 2nd, about 8 years ago, the end of Bellman & Black by Diane Setterfield.

The library buys the book, we get paid. They buy the ebook we get paid. They buy the audiobook we get paid. You want to be read as much as possible. The more people read the more likely they will rec. the book and this will encourage other ppl to buy it or take it out from the library.

Yeah, we KNOW. WE don't support it, and guess what? Those allies can fight back! But tell me again how friendly the UK government has been to it's Euro neighbors? When Le Pen gets even more power next time, how do you think she'll behave to France's allies?

Speaking of taking to the streets, remember about 2 years ago when France raised the retirement age and the citizens went batshit, setting fires, blocking train tracks, trashing luxury stores, etc? What was the outcome? Nothing. The change still went into effect. So pipe down.

"Why aren't you out in the streets?" People are! Show some respect. And ya know what pumpkin, a lot of people can't because they still have to work and survive. Again, fucking excuse us

If you were paying attention to the major things that big media IS covering, you'd have seen the our new FBI director just said "we're going after Americans who disagree with dear leader," so fucking excuse us if we take it on the down low

The things that need to be done aren't TikTok worthy. They're dull and non-performative, and barely covered by our cowardly big media. It's paperwork and lawsuits. It's local, it's quiet, and we're in for a long fight. People like @runforsomething.net are busy

And so far, only Mexico, Trudeau, and Macron have had the balls to call him out. The rest are welcoming him and bending over. And I'm already tired of "wHy arEn'T AmeRIcAnS doINg aNyThIng." Well pull up a chair, kids, so I can fucking tell you!

Whatever is going to happen, we have no choice but to deal. No point in crying, just get on with it, whatever "it" is. So, I ignore those dumbass coworkers, I check in on my friends, I call my reps, I prepare for the worst but hope for the best. There's always hope, so tits up!

No parent in WWII Europe wanted war for their children, nor any parent in Ukraine right now.

She said shit happens in every country, in every generation, sometimes far, far worse than what we're even dreading right now, but people survive, and we will, too. (She's very no-nonsense, no whining - thanks to her horrific childhood)

I vented to my wise old French mama (about to lose her social security and her part time job) about how scared I am for my child. I said, "This is not the country I brought my child into! What's going to happen for him?" But she put it in perspective (as she always does)

I'm sorry, Sebastian Stan is not inspiring enough for you?! You've really gone to a bad place! 😋

We do what we can. Otherwise, we just live. We will survive. We don't have a choice. A lot of people are looking to the past to see 1. How shit like this happens and 2. How to fight it. I've been looking to see how people survived.

It's disorienting to be around. And it's not just the uneducated- one of my coworkers has an MBA and thinks Trump is "kicking ass." Another insists Musk saved Twitter and will save America. Wtf do I even say to that?! We don't have easy explanations for this level of stupidity
