Blocked the absolute fuck out of an online public health personality for popping into feeds of MN residents proposing legislation and laws that would require full identification of law enforcement-laws that would prohibit face coverings that obscure the identity of an officer. I’m pro public health

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

Bring Me The News, The Tribune, MPR News, and other local places are much better sources than national ones who barely know what the DFL is.

Today’s a good day to figure out who’s trying to build their brand on the bodies of dead people, and block them. All my love to everyone honestly grieving. All we have is each other.

gonna caution everyone about national accounts covering the news in MN - stick to locals. already seeing lots of misinformation coming from people who do not live here

Every Minnesotan is yelling at all of you to knock this off. Not competitive districts. Lege is not in session. You don't even go here. This is bad enough without the rest of the country parrotting this. Just. Fucking. Wait. For. Local. Reporting.

In re: LRT, Minnesota is the opposite of a news desert - the Twin Cities has dozens of responsible news outlets staffed by incredibly professional journalists. They do not need your breathless, speculative assistance in covering this story. Post *local* coverage as it emerges, and ignore the noise.

I've covered politically motivated assassinations in Central America. I got pulled off a massive research project looking into political motivated killings in Guatemala after I hit a "trip wire." I know the U.S. has seen this in the past, but this is a worrying escalation.

Jesus. The juxtaposition of these two posts back to back is just...

Morning in Tr*mp and *rnst land. Walking, ruminating before turning my brain off for the day.

Oh, you're doomscrolling current events? That's baby shit. I'm doomscrolling the events of 536. A volcano just erupted in Iceland. Snow just fell during the summer in China. Crops are failing. All of the crops are failing.

everyone needs this right now. you have no idea how much you, personally, need this youtu.be/fAXO7SXK0Pc?...

Our intern is decent (thus far) but uses exclamation points after eeeeeeverything. Someday, the "pick me" will be worked out of him as well.

yep! unpaywalled:

Those who don't criticize the government have nothing to fear.

The idea that Secret Service agents don’t know all the senators on sight alone is absurd. And yes, you can hear him clearly identify himself in the recording. Just nonsense. And this is why the Trump admin likes making “pretty” white women its spokespeople— to play the scared victim

STARTING NOW:

If zohran mamdani wins I will take a six month hiatus from making fun of New York City on the condition that he doesn't reveal himself to be a psycho embarrassment during that time, in which case I will resume

A terrifying escalation:

'I was friends with Dennis. We'd go up to see Brian in Bel Air. Big house. Bellagio Road. 16-track quadrophonic studio. But I wasn't so much into all that. Dennis had these girls, and they were ... you know, hippie girls, he said they had a ranch ... out above Chatsworth -- ' *tape cuts out*

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Just to give an idea of how much the Trump administration wants to "help" the citizens of Los Angeles by sending in the military

Friendly reminder that Trump's proposed FY2026 budget eliminates pediatric graduate medical education training programs: a fundamentally irresponsible, insane cut. www.childrenshospitals.org/news/newsroo...

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving. There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later. They. Are. Breaking. The. Law.

Ah, cheering the mendacious draft dodger who lives nothing more than directing others to do dirty work for him.

The wheels on the firm bus come off (but not entirely) every summer, but it’s fine.

YES

Cool cool to learn of ICE swatting a city emergency services provider. Nothing thoroughly inappropriate about this at all. 🤮

I had a wake-up call after a Mike Brown protest in 2014: someone drove into the crowd and ran over a young teen, right in front of the 3rd precinct police station. seeing people cheer that person on in the comments about it, and them getting off with no consequences, let me know where things stood

LA Story King Don says he needs out of towners to deal with wild and crazy guys in SoCal. But with the only murders in ICE detention facilities, he looks a jerk. by Maureen Dowd

Members of Congress have a right to conduct oversight at federal facilities under federal law, Section 527(a) of the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (Public Law 118-47) to be exact!
