I'm keeping an eye on sodium batteries. It's important to balance between not letting the perfect get in the way of the better while maintaining the push for improvement

Have you seen snow clear off slanted panels? It's scary when there's several inches and there's little to no warning

What I'm really hoping is for is a solution that allows a run of the mill ev to serve as a whole house backup. The battery packs are huge and could run a house for days in an outage, then you could just drive to somewhere with power, recharge, and run the house for days more.

Also good for leveraging time of day pricing, and I'm hoping for virtual power plants catch on. Battery prices are dropping rapidly, so it might be worth revisiting in a couple years

Adding my voice to those recommending Energy Sage. Even with a reputable installer, expect the installation to take 3x longer than the sales guy lays out.

Not the End of the World by data scientist Hannah Ritchie is a good read if you want numbers based evidence that things are starting to turn around

I think AI in general is a solution in search of a problem. They are literally giving it away to try to see if there are enough applications that people might pay for in order to keep it afloat.

Yeah, there isn't going to be one battery for all cases going forward. Grid scale, home storage, EVs and gadgets will all have different fits

And once they finish all the battery factories for all the new and different batteries that are coming out of the labs right now, they'll fall even faster
