And last, but definitely not least, is Lisa McMullin's The Devouring, the first story to introduce our beloved Lady Audacity Montague. Any story with a cheeky Adam Ant reference was always going to have our hearts, and Audacity's quickly climbed her way up our list of favorite companions.

Next comes Guy Adams' Seizure, from the second Ravenous box set. Perfectly anxiety-inducing (we mean that as a compliment, we swear), and filled with plenty for its brilliant cats to chew on.

Moving on to the proper box set stories, it wouldn't be a Girlies post if we didn't shout out our favorite BF story of all time, The Red Lady by @johndorney.bsky.social. A perfect blend of horror and historical from Doom Coalition 1, this is always the first rec out of our mouths to everyone.

It's hard to pick a Lucie story that we love the most, but Eddie Robson's Phobos is definitely up there, especially if you're an adrenaline junkie. (Or if you love when Eight gets a chance to be snarky. That too.)

Though we always try to recommend stories that are farther off the beaten path than the usual fare, we have to shout out Lloyd Rose's Caerdroia, featuring @hairofthehound.bsky.social's darling companion C'Rizz and a multi-Doctor story like you've never seen before.

Even if you've been around since the beginning, we always recommend revisiting Paul Cornell and Caroline Symcox's Seasons of Fear for its fantastic exploration of various periods of history and revisiting a classic monster. (Plus Charley gets a sword. That's the most important part.)

personally we’re of the opinion that charley should’ve stabbed eight with her sword more often tbh
